Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I want Owen back because Cisse and Moro arent scoring.  They just need a boost of confidence (SuperCup). If they get it turned around and we are scoring plenty, why spend 15 million on Owen if there are other positions of need?

Right now, if this lack of goalscoring continues from our strikers, then it'll be a problem.  I hope Moro and Cisse get it turned around.  If they still can't score, even in the SuperCup, then Rafa needs to get Owen.

One thing that not many people have mentioned about the Owen purchase, is that Madrid still OWE US 4 Million for him, when he was sold.

So the deal would be a complex one.

Rodney Marsh has just been saying, that someone somewhere is telling big fat porkies, and that MO has not made such a statement about going to the barcodes. He is a professional he would not say erm if they dont want me Ill come to you lot, it just doesnt make sense, it doesnt really endear him to there fans does it ???

It dont make any sense at all, same as newcastle bidding over the specualted asking price for a player who states that he only wants to join on a loan.  :shifty

I think that we have an anxious week ahead of us lets see what the club say after the Super Cup final.

Does Johnny Mc not have any news

admist the speculation and anxiety amongst LFC fans, this whole Situation is OWENS own fault. if he hadn't upped and left for his own gain, he would still be here, with LFC always willing to give him a new deal. He didnt sign it, so its just what you call TUFF T*TS to OWEN.

My money is a newcastle Loan deal very soon for the toon!

skipper wrote:I would love to have Owen back.  He'll guarantee the 20+ goals.  Rafa should make a move for him.

But, if he goes to Newcastle, I think that would hurt his career.  Owen should've stayed with Liverpool from age 17 all the way to retirement.  He goes to Madrid and the Toon and he probably wont get a single trophy.  If he had stayed with us, then he could've been celebrating with SG and Carra on May 25, instead of watching TV.

Michael, its time for you to come back.  You'll win plenty of trophies here.  Rafa needs to make a bid right now.  Friday will be too late.  Owen's made a mistake and now he should come back and make up for it with 30 goals.

Let's clear up the confusion. There seem to be fanatics in here that believe Owen can guarantee 20 league goals. Remember at his very best Owen scored 19 league goals. And that was a very different Owen, a young player with more pace, less injuries, better skills and no respect. The only viable conclusion is: Owen is no guarantee for 20+ goals.

Owens 5 last seasons (goals - penalties)
16 - 4
11 - 2
19- 1
16 - 4
11- 4

avg: 14,6 - 3

Gerrard or Alonso will take our penalties so that will reduce Owen's average to 11,6 league goals per season. Is that so impressive?
