No, I'm actually in Maidenhead, drinking my 5.P.M tea. :D

Dawson: I trust what you saw, and perhaps it's true they're mates, but the tension I described is true, and it was quite strange a player of his level not playing.

dawson99 wrote:ok people, so i turned on SSN this mornign to find out that Arteta and Alonso are real close mates. Apparently Alonso is the one who said that it would be a good move for Arteta to move to somewhere like Evertno and Alonso also thinks Arteta will soon be i the Spanish national side.

Then i realise that Crouch and Beattie are also real good mates. they have a laugh and a joke o the phone all the time about which of them has more of a chance of getting into the England squad (i think crouch has more fun on these conversations).

So it got me thinking more about the local derby (and yes, im from london, so of course i know nothing about how special the derby is). The hatred between the players seems to have been diminishing lately, ok, we are not including Duncan ferguson who makes jeffrey dahmer loko like geoffrey from rainbow, but there now seems to be a bit mroe respect between the two teams. This may have a lot to do with the recent purchases by the two managers and also it might be because Everton have finally accepted that we are so much betetr than them  :p

Im not gonna ask how everyone feels about the derby itself, we all know that we want to win, have to win and for those 90 minutes Everton are the biggest enemy we have.

But what about after those 90 minutes? I myself dont hate the team as much as i used to. 'Boro and Birmingham and teams like that are the teams i would rather see go down. It's not as if i want Everton to start getting into Europe (altho when it happened this season i did have a mighty chuckle) but i dont really hate them anymore. Altho on saturday trust me i will not be there biggest fan :D

Anyways, whats everyone's opinion? on our views and the players views. I know the players still look at this as one of the matches of the season but can anyone esle see what mi trying to say?

Are there any others at the two clubs that get on that people know about?

Also for your information there will be a massive interview with Arteta and Alonso on SSN tonight at 7.

Its getting worse and worse, whenever im in Liverpool over the summer and Im at me relatives house(s) footy always causes the arguments. Id say its probably 55% blue in my family and some of em are normal happy people but people like me Grandad are terrible when Liverpool are mentioned. Its fecking ridiculous the bile he and some of em spill, I love the bones of me family but when things like Heysel, Hillsborough etc get brought up its difficult.

On the funny side my Grandad actually believes every trophy we have ever won was swindled or cheated for. Its amazing lol, Dogleesh was :censored: he says, Rush couldnt score an on side goal and dont start him on the leg breaker - Gerrard.

Ah well I only have to put up with it now and again cos im not living in Liverpool like some of you!

Mate - your Grandad should know better.

What does he think of old  Dunc Fergie? I take it he's a world-class CF with the touch of Ronaldinho and the grace of a Ballerina!?!  :D

Yeah I know he should, its best not to bring Liverpool up because as I said, no stone is left unturned by him. Yeah he thinks Ferguson is the dogs :censored:. And the best players we have had in last ten years? Danny Murphy, David Thompson and Nico Anelka, guess what? THEY ALL LEFT US! convenient ey?

The feeling of a Derby match was summed up by a work colleague of mine today.

He said "It's like going to the races with £1000 and only being able to back 1 horse, if it wins it's the best feeling in the world, if it loses you've got ot go home to your wife, & go to work on Monday knowing you're gonna get stick all week long"

I thought that was a fantastic analogy

Heh heh - spot on. :D

I'll have to out myself as a Wool here...

I'm originally from Warrington, almost slap-bang between Liverpool and Manchester. My gran was born in Liverpool, and my granddad was a born manc.

At primary school, the kids were divided almost exactly down the middle as either LFC or Mancs, except for one kid that was a Bluenose airlifted in, and some kid who supported Man City.

I've got a huge family (I'm the youngest of 7), and there's only me and my gran who are LFC through and through.

She died last year, but over the years I've had the whole Everton backstory going back to the 1920s from her.

Her dad was a blue-nose, and the first time she gave any thought to football was when he took her to a derby way back at some point in the mid-1920s (1926?). Dixie Dean scored a hat-trick, and they thrashed the pants off us. Everyone in the stadium was applauding Dixie that day, but from the point that they arrived at Anfield, she just fell in love with Liverpool FC. There were LFC fan mates of her dad from the factories fussing over her, giving her piggy backs, dancing down the streets with her. All the guys with banners, lads with muck and grease from 3 shifts earlier all over their faces, but with eyes bulging out of their heads because they'd been looking forward to the derby since Christmas. Obviously songs galore, people in their absolute element, Blue mates of her dad bragging about how good Dixie was, and how we were going to get thrashed.

But she just decided, aged 4, just before kick off, that she was a Liverpool fan. Before she'd even seen a ball kicked.

An impressionable young kid, taken to a strange new world, then had the best footballer on the planet at the time put in front of her, but she'd already decided that she liked the people in the other club better. Much to her dad's displeasure, and no matter how much trouble he said she'd be in if she didn't, she just wouldn't change her mind.

God I miss that woman. :bowdown

Haha Osman used to stand on the Kop as a lad, serious!

In reply to the comments about Arteta, anyone who has seen him play will know this lad, is a clas act, Ive heard the question asked "How does Garcia get in the Spanish squad and he doesnt" And i have to agree, Arteta is one hell of a gifted footballer and seems to be getting better all the time, same cant be said for Luis.

Sabre, you have great knowledge of the spanish game but if you think Alonso was being sarcastic when he said Arteta should be in the spanish, you are dead worng in my opinion.

people dont quite understand how intense the 'rivalry' is, i mean in me school today the bluenoses were given it loads as they always do about murderers and sh.ite like that. All i had to do was put up me 5 finger salute and the tw.ats were fumin, me and me mate were scrapin in the middle of me business class all be it a friendly playfight (i won ofcourse), its funny tho how when we beat them in the derby the following week they sh.ut right up :D they cant stand us tho, some cheeky smack head come up to me the other day and called me a dirty kopite :censored:, i would have banged him like but but he was off his barnet and he was with his mates and i was on me bill. In town tomorrow there will be fuc.kin mayhem.

He even played for my team, and since he is from San Sebastian I followed him in his Barcelona lower categories youth time, way before his Scottish experience. He's not unknown to me, he was the very pearl that was robbed by Barcelona before the Alonso gem appeared in the scene. He went there very very young.

He's a very good player, very very good if you press me. But comparing him to LG is difficult, as they're quite different players.

It's like comparing Gerrard and Alonso , it's so difficult, since their task and abilities are so different. LG is more an attacking midfielder than Arteta, I'd even put him playing as a second striker but since he's pretty good he can play on the right.

Arteta has more strenght perhaps he's more prepared because of that than LG for the EPL, he has a better long shot too, and he takes well penalties and set pieces (not better than our players though).

Luis Garcia has the dribbling, the flair, the ability to sneak into a small gap in the defence, and the finishing. In our team, Artata would compete with Gerrard in the middle on front of Alonso, but he's not quite as half as good as Gerrard. I'd preffer him rather than Sissoko though.

But in the Spanish squad, that place is bloody expensive to get, Xabi from Barcelona is the owner of that place and when he's not, Aragones preffers to play with a more defensive profile midfielders like Albelda, Alonso, Baraja. Very good players like Valeron, Raul Garcia can't think in the Spanish squad right now , and neither can Arteta. There are many class players competing for that place and that's  why I see it unlikely, not because I don't rate the player.

Perhaps if he played for Liverpool he'd have more chances, it's like that, it's more likely you get into the Spanish Squad if you play in Liverpool than in a second rate team like Everton or Real Sociedad.

Edited Perhaps yes, I was wrong about using the word sarcastic, I just think he was being kind to the player because he had a camera on front of him, but I seriously doubt Alonso really thinks that...

Now, I must drink some beers, see you tomorrow!

Yer Osman was a kopite.

On Arteta he is playing well at the moment it seems the more he plays the better he is becoming.
He wasnt that hot in the SPL though, he didnt do much for Rangers to my knowledge he went back to Sociedad to replace Alonso and could'nt lace Xabi's boots.
But is he that good to walk into Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal NO and TBH I dont even think he would make our bench.

He looks good in Evertons team because they have no flair players only him the rest of them Cahill aside are just an avarage ale house team, take Arteta out of them they look quite ordinary its just that the f.uckin Dogs Of War mentality is back. kunts.

Me personally, I find that the old school Everton fans are sound when you talk to them about footy. It's the lads our age that act like dicks, although I will say, not all.

My arl fella is a blue. Me n our kid are Reds, n me arl fella's a blue. How does that work? Anyway, me arl fella is one of the best blokes you can talk to about footy. We watched the Carling Cup final together and we both waxed lyrical about how good Rooney really is, how good he is going to be and how moving to Old trafford was an excellent move for him.

Try having that sort of conversation with a younger, newer breed of Evertonian however, and it just won't happen. I've had lads call Rooney (sorry to stay on him, but easy to relate to me arl fella story) sh!t, nowhere near Beattie's class and 'glad to be rid of him'. Utter, utter bo!!ocks, nothing more.

The peoples club as well. Moyes brought this in and i'll bet, this moniker will be dropped as soon as he goes as well. All of them proper bought into it. Me personally, i'd be embaressed if one of our managers came in and started saying stuff like that. Proper disrespectful and all that.

I'm kucky that i've got a mate who is an Evertonian who is really fair in what he says. When we won the Euro Cup, he was the first person on the phone to me saying he was made up because he knew how it would make so many of his mates happy. You can't buy lads like that anymore. this is the same lad who told me when he was a ball boy aged 10 at Goodison, he was spat on by their own fans. Fair play to him, he's still a top Blue, but imagine that?

The 'rivalry' has gone beyond 'friendly' anymore. It's decended to a lower level and I don't see how it can accend again. As Ciggy said, some of the Michael Shields comment have made me sick - forget the fact that he's a Red, he's a SCOUSER. I ask the sh!thouses to drive past his house on the way to town and say the same things then and invariably they shut up.

this derby has become more than rivalry - it's now borderline hatred in some quarters - and I don't see either set of supporters caling a truce anytime soon. Unfortunately, it'll probably take something tragic to happen before it does.....  :(

PS on a lighter note, just heard Cisse is going to be DJ'ing in Club Isis 2moro night - hopefully celebrating!  :)

Top post Feeney lad I know where your comin from mate, not all of them are that bitter mostly the awl ones are alrite, but they should educate these young scally knobheads cause these seem the root of the problem TBH.
The hatred songs have gone on for years you see they cant hit us with anything else other than tragedies etc.

Remember the Everton is White songs when we signed John Barnes and they threw bananas at him on the pitch.

Are you watching Michael Shields?

"Heskey...He's got flies on his face"

"Theres only one Gerard Houllier, one Gerard Houllier what a wonderful way to spend the day, watching that french kunt pass away" (the game after his heart attack)

"39 times, 39 tiiiimes, in Heysel, they killed 39 times"

See not one refernce to footie is there?
And feckin Gollum an his peoples club doesnt help, either small time club with no ambition so there fans take it out on us for their missfortunes and not the real culprits who are running the club.

Scum.

I reckon all LFC fans and players, etc should don gas masks at the match today, and while George is playing YNWA, millions of gallons of poisonous laughing gas should be fired into the Neverton punks.

At least the feckers would stop being bitter for a while.

Or the groundstaff could hastily "repair" the stand, and it "accidentally" collapse under the weight of the steaming piles of dog sh*t upon it. (Scaffolding can be erected to ensure the saftey of the rest of Anfield Road.)

B*stards.
