The cisse rumours. - Anything in it?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby tubby » Thu Aug 18, 2005 5:15 pm

Read this:
What does seem to be the case in fact is that Liverpool have a deal in the pipeline that will almost be self-funding for Owen. Liverpool are still owed money for Owen from last year, and by not paying him for the last 12 months have saved almost £5million in wages. The funding required for the purchase of Owen does not require the sale of Djibril Cisse.

The Cisse reports have come about because Gerard Houllier has got £26million at his disposal after the sale of Michael Essien. Owen has said he doesn't fancy a move to Lyon so now the reports have put Cisse and Houllier together again. Liverpool are unlikely to speak to Lyon about selling the player unless Lyon come up with the £14million that the Reds paid for the player. Even then there's little chance that Cisse would move back to France at this stage.
- The Echo

Cisses not goin anywhere. He himself wants to stay and repay the club for the treatment he got that allowed him to play again let alone be scoring on a regular basis. I think if anyone would be sold it would probabaly be Pongolle or Morientes. Although i doubt Rafa wants to get rid of him after not even one full season.

I think it's the case of the press putting 1+1 and =3!  I don't think Cisse will go....not unless we get the 14 million we paid.  Baros will go....only a matter or where?  I still say Villa......but for more money  :;):

like bavlondon says, it's the rumour mill gone silly - Lyon have £26m to spend so the papers will just speculate til the cows come home on who they could try and spend it on, and cos GH is their manager it's piss easy to link them with any Liverpool player

load of cobblers, Djibril's going nowhere

I've just said on another thread that Cisse has just bought a massive manor in Frodsham and the locals are delighted with the new extrovert in the village. he's going nowhere.

thought I'd use the 'edit' to tell woollyback I did'nt know he had ended his previous post like that.  :Oo:

Lyon are about to recieve a huge amount of money from chelski for michael essien and will be as a result linked with the world and his mother including a few of our own players. Already they've been linked baros and cisse. Please dont take up loads of space in general discussion with topics relating to lyon buying our players

I think Houllier should buy Diao and Traore for 10 million :D

Rafa didnt buy Cisse and has used him both forward and right but not as permanent fixture in the team. I dont think hes convinced about Cisse but ofcourse theres time for the player to improve and indeed he has shown that recently. Thing is, does Rafa think hes worth waiting for and would he be tempted by a big bid from Lyon. At a guess I would say he would be tempted to take the money and use the cash to buy a player of his own choosing.

Good to hear GH out a stop to the rumours although i'm sure he would bite Rafa's arm off if he was given any encouragement to buy Cisse. If the prodigal son returns (i certainly hope he does) then we can expect to hear speculation about Cisse's future all season long as he will be the only one of the 4 (strikers) that Rafa did not bring to the club himself.

While it will be fantastic to have 4 top drawer strikers (plus the still raw potential of Pongo) i do think the boss will have a job to keep them all happy. Rafa's tendency to play one-up during away games and the likeliehood of Garcia coming inside (should we get a right-winger) and Stevie spending time as a supplementary striker could mean someone missing out. I wander if Rafa is currently toying with the idea of giving Cisse some time out on the right where his pace could be frightening?
