THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL - AC MILAN VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

look rafa is taking us forward of that i have no doubt, but lets not think we are already there when we clearly are not, this summer should see the right players come in, but rafa really does need to get a grip on the game, yes he had the right gameplan, we looked good, but there came a time during the game when it needed to be changed, and he left it too late, he generally leaves it too late.

there is no getting around that, i am not going to argue with people, we are all disapointed, but surely i can say what i think is wrong, and i will say wat i think is wrong.

were not far away but really need more quality in the final 3rd. 2 world class wide players and a top striker is a must.

Congrats to all liverpool fans for being fans of a great team, even in defeat.

Milan and Liverpool are the two best teams in europe this year and among the best ever. My respect for the team has grown a lot, and unlike some people here, know that other milan fans feel the same.

Forza Milan

Forza Liverpool

Forza Champions!

AC MILAN did not win the final, but in fact Liverpool gave it to them on the plate, thanks to most the stupid manager like the one we have in Benitez, I know a lot of LFC fans says he is a top class manager, I personally do not share that at all.

I think Benitez is a very negative manager like his successor the idiot Houlier, there are plenty managers, who get lucky with some achievements in cups, but do not how build on their successes further, Benitez fall into that category, he has failed badly on producing a consistent team that is capable to win more trophies and challenge for top spot in the league, and I do not think he is capable of wining the league next season, or the season after that, it is really beyond him.

On tonight showing against MILAN, he starting line up was wrong, especially in Zenden, and Kuyt, I just don’t understand why Benitez think Zenden is a vital player in his team, whether he is on left, or in central midfield roll instead of Gerrard, where he was frequently used then. I think Zenden is a very average player, and none on M United, Chelsea, or Arsenal managers will accommodate Zenden in their first team, does Bentize want to make something different from those top mangers, by turning a player like Zenden from a donkey into most brilliant player!!!!!!!!

Any top manager will select his top players and play to his team strength, no but in Benitez, he always opts to keep his best players on the bench and he always does bring them on far too late, when he does realize that his initial plan was wrong, as it was tonight, when I have seen his first team that he put out, I told my friends that Benitez got it wrong and he has handed the cup to AC MILAN, his front line of Kuyt and Gerrard was wrong, both those players have struggled all season scouring goals, his best striker in Crouch is sitting on the bench, a player that AC Milan had hoped Benitez will never start with him, and this fact was well documented through out the build up for this match, and AC Milan were very happy to see Zenden being used on the left instead of Kwell, and Benitez simply has played to AC Milan hands.

Liverpool lost the match is simply because of lousy decision by Benitez, and he must accept all the blame for failure to win this match, really Milan’s players did not have the legs for this match, and they were there for the taking, and if any of those teams Arsenal, Chelsea, or even Spurs would have beaten Milan by at least two clear goals, if Benitez had started with Crouch up front and with Gerrard on left, Liverpool would finish the first half 3.0

This season LFC has taken three steps backwards from where the club has finished last season, this season has been very poor, Benitez has brought in a lot average players at a higher cost, bad team selection in the league and domestic cups, and I fear for next season being Benitez in charge, and I expect him to buy more bad players for top money, and I do not think that he will be able to secure a top three position, the squad lucks good quality players to go for major honours, and Benitez has a lot of dead meat which he tries to get rid off very cheaply, waste of money again, like Houlier’s era and LFC record of under achievers will go on, while we a manager likes of Benitez is still in charge.  I was very sad to see the LFC fans who have spend thousand of pounds in order to be with their team, but only for a stupid manager like Benitez has spoiled for them.

Thank you.

its that mentality that ensures we are failing.

my opinions, if you dont like them i dont really care, i will say it as it really is rather than gloss over another pathetic season.

ensures we are failing?
we lost the champions league final to a.c milan in a tight game.
pathetic season?
i cant even be @rsed answering that one, either your stuck in a timewarp or you think winning football games is as easy as clicking your fingers.
you think alex ferguson is someone who doesnt have a clue what he`s doing, or mourinho?
enjoy your moaning moment mate, watch the game a few times, i`m sure you`ll find something else to moan about.

to be honest mate i think the commentator on british t.v summed it up pretty well when he said the best team lost in 2005 and the best team lost in 2007.
you owed us that one.
good luck to milan, and not just a.c, liverpool have a long rivallry with inter dating back from the semi final in 1965, they are both great clubs.
you dont win 7 european cups by luck, just as we havent won 5 by luck.
its a pleasure to have our name associated with a.c milan, i couldnt think of a better team to strike a rivallry with.
we`ve got american dollars to spend in the off season so who knows, see you in moscow next year?

@peewee

dude, the man who eliminated many great teams to the final, the man who only narrowly lost the final and brought the second place in europe to liverpool can't be a bad manager. On the contrary, Rafa gives the team winning mentality, making them able to come from the dead. However, this time liverpool lost. face it... sometimes football is more than chances and possesion, quality in front of goal is also important, that's what liverpool lacked. Get a good striker and next year, i expect another rematch :D

cheers

peewee wrote:ok a few points, its obvious what the problems were last night, well the two major problems and they are so glaringly obvious it would be pointless for anyone to disagree.

number one, too many times this season we have dominated matches only to come away with nothing, so wher does that fault lie with that? we need a goalscorer, its really that simple, we need someone who is prolific, last night we didnt have that on the pitch or on the bench. kuyt is a joke, milan must have been made up when they saw his as the lone striker, the one forward we possess that will cause them the least problems. crouch would have caused them problems, bellamy would have caused them problems, kuyt just runs around a lot with no real outcome for his effort. anyway lets hope this problem is solved in the summer

number two is rafa, yes folks rafa is not the tactical genius you all think he is, yes he is good but he is far from great. lets take last night for example, its obvious we need to change in order to get something, he brings kewell on for zenden (who shouldnt have even been on the pitch to start with), then he waits until 12 minutes from the end to add another striker, wtf is he thinking? rafa that tops this substituting masterstroke by bringing on arbeloa  ???   we needed to score an he brings on arbeloa rather that bellamy to run at their forwards hopefully causing panic.

i watched their defence last night and they were a joke, seriously they were a joke and we did nothing about it, we let them get away with it because rafa let it too late again. what is his problem with changing things during a game, sure we were creating a few chances but he just perseveres in the hope that we will score with what we have , rather that changing it slightly, our top scorer sat on the bench until 12 minutes from the end, the one guy who could have realy caused panic their defence when crosses come in, so he brings kewell on and he is supposed to cross to who exactly?  kuyt? give me a break.

anyway next season has to be better than this very very poor season, lets not dress it up as anything other than poor, i want to get back to enjoying watching my team rather than cringing at every long ball pumped froward or frowning at yet another missed chance because we dont have a goalscorer.

i dont care what he has done to us, we should be on the phone to metal mickey, 9 million is a snip, at least he knows where the goal is.

sad sad night guys, it was there for the taking and we never took it, we let them take it.

now the early finish to the game, yes he blew a bit early, in fact a substitution was made in injury time to there should have been another 30 seconds in my opinion, so we were robbed of a minute, but we shouldnt have even been worrying by that stage, we should have been celebrating.

anyway angry at the moment, also proud that the players on the pitch did their best and sad thet the players were also let down by a lack of any real goalscorer on the pitch.

rafa get you finger out and get this sorted, no more excuse, no more sh1t performances,

And there I was thinking we scored after Arbeloa came on, and Kuyt was the man who got it.  :upside:

good luck to milan, they probably owed us that.
milan are a great club, infact both milan clubs are great (liverpool and inter have a long rivalry stemming back from the 1965 semi final) and there is no shame in losing to such a great club.
you dont win 7 finals by luck, just as we havent won 5 by luck.
after these two finals liverpool and ac milans names are linked together and frankly i couldnt think of a better team to have such a rivallry with.
we`ve got american dollars coming our way and i think milan saw the difference benitez has made to our club in the way we played tonight, with big money behind him i wouldnt be surprised to be in moscow next year.
see you there  :;):
