The battle of old trafford - It's a must win

I think we maybe going out to control the midfield - which we have done to a point - but in terms of final third, getting players in the box and supporting kuyt - we've been appalling. Kuyt needs more support. Crouch imo be be a very good option at half time.

Crouch has been on a goal-scoring streak.  We should definitely bring him on.  Maybe he'll repeat what he did in the FA Cup last year.

Imho I think our midfield has been useless thus far, creating more problems than anything else.  The passing has been horrible the long balls un-accurate and a general lack of creativity and disipline, have they forgotten about one touch passing (the guys should be looking at United today and taking notes, their passing has been accurate and quick).

Sissoko needs to be told to calm down, Garcia should be told he is playing up front not in midfield.  More balls down the left to unleash Gonzalez's pace please and no more wasteful long balls to a lone striker who has no support to do anything with them.

Gerrard needs a talking too along with Sammi too many wayward passes
IMHO. I think we need some speed upfront along with somebody readily willing to put thier foot through the ball, every time the balls in front of goal
the team as a whole are just parming it off hoping that somebody else will take responsibility to put it in the onion bag.

Unfortunately, though the game is tight once again we've conceded the first goal and are bang up against it. Garcia has been at best absolutely anonomous so he is the obvious change. I really don't think we can afford to carry him in the second half in the hope that he might produce something. It's time for Crouch up top and a straight 4-4-2 I think, (once again the 4-5-1 doesn't seem to be effective). The other change I would make is to withdraw Sissoko who has been booked and is liable to get himself sent off, move Gerrard into central-midfield and bring on Pennant down the right.

Given our league position and the sheer desperation of situation, I wouldn't be hanging around either. Like as of now would be a good move in my book.

Started to negative for my likeing.  I think we need to win today to stay in the race and 1 up wasnt a positive attitude.  We now are a goal behind and have 45 mins to save our league campaign.  Disappointed we dont have bellamy on the bench to use his pace to get in behind.  Hopefully Rafa will not leave it to late to get 2 upfront.  Gonzales has the beating of all there back 4 so we really need to try and stretch Utd and get the ball out to the wide left.

Shocking defending on the goal.  Real sloppy.  Scholes had so much space and was criminal defending.

same old story i am afraid guys, too many misplaced passes, too many flicks from garcia that do are not coming off, sami seems to enjoy giving the ball away in that half, reina a couple of errors of judgement but also a couple of saves. and too many times we have just had to stop playying because there was no outlet. there is just no flow to our football, players are not looking for the easy ball. they would rather play a pass that has a chance of being intercepted and thats happened a few times this half.

now we have to attack, if rafa does not change at half time and play with 2 forwards then i seriously have to question his tactics.

i see tommy smith is there, i would let him loose at half time in the dressing room

Way too many long balls. Its just a bit of ma mess really. momo is scared to pass forwards, and carra gets the ball and just :censored: it all the time.

on the pluses gonzales is running at players at least and finnan is having a good game

Agreed the passing again has not been good enough.  Hyppia gives the ball away so often.  Whenever he hits the ball forward it seems to hit a Utd shirt.  Same old story too many long balls and not cohesion to our attacks.  Its stop start all the time.

Whoever passes the ball better usually wins and not for the first time this season our passing has not been good enough.

the lady switched off the alarm this morning (8:00 am in Canada) watched the last 10 minutes of the first half. Gonzalez was a positive of what I saw, but nothing much else, not the best goal to give up. Positive about the second half however.
