If Rafa goes for him he knows what hes doing were hes gonna be playin him an where hes gonna fit in, I wouldnt be selling no Masherano though or Alonso . If that was the case id sooner not have Tevez here,

Just imagine though Dirks gonna feel like Mr World as far as looks go . Mirror Mirror on the wall whos the fairest of them all:D :D

What are talks with his reps and the club reps about today then? Is it to agree on a price? If Rafa spoke to him and they are meeting his reps today then something must be in motion.

I'd love another creative striker that can control the ball well, but how much are we gonna pay for him? Keep in mind he's from Argentina and when he returns from international duty in Latin America he's gonna have to re-adapt to the lower altitude. We missed Mascha in the games against Fulham and Chelski when he came back from Bolivia. I'd just hate to see us spend that much on a player and not be able to get the most out of him.

Rafa will have to convince him to come here and ignore Fergie even if he forks out the money to keep him. I think utd are looking to Kaka now anyway.

Whatever he wants I think he is worth it.

For a Spanish speaker and a latino culture, it's not that easy to adapt. Entering in a dressroom in which you don't get the jokes, and you have nobody to help you must be hard.

Rafa will have a word to say what he expects of him (and make sure we don't get another Keane case), but Mascherano and the Spaniards might be a key factor so that he joins.

Yeah he knows Masch since West Ham and even before that right?

I'm not going to get too excited about this story until I see some actual substance. At first I admit I thought it was just a ploy from the player to force Fergie to give him a full time contract but after what some people are saying who knows....

But there are a lot of clubs that would pay good money for him so what I mean is Rafa needs to convince him to want to only play for us and ignore other offers. We can't afford to get in a bidding war with Real Madrid so the player has to 'play ball' with Rafa when negotiating.

Rafa avoids Tevez talk
Benitez shrugs off claims and backs Reds to cope without Gerrard

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has played down speculation linking the club with a move for Carlos Tevez.

Tevez is coming to the end of a two-year loan at fierce rivals Manchester United, and with the league leaders still to secure a deal for the Argentinean, Liverpool have emerged as potential suitors for the former Boca Juniors star.

The Reds are widely believed to be in the market for a new striker following the departure of Robbie Keane in January - although Benitez insists that no firm targets have yet been drawn up.

"It is too early [to talk about individual players]. Summer is too far," said the Spaniard.

"We are not talking about players because now we are focused on the league."

Benitez has been linked with the 25-year-old before, having forged a strong relationship with his representative Kia Joorabchian during the negotiations to take Javier Mascherano to Liverpool in 2007.

And with Liverpool needing only to correspond with Joorabchian and not Manchester United, the club would be able to avoid the same acrimony that has greeted previous attempts to snare players from Old Trafford.
Gerrard absence

Meanwhile, Liverpool head to the KC Stadium on Saturday once again bereft of their talismanic captain Steven Gerrard.

The midfielder scored both Liverpool's goals in the 2-2 draw at Anfield earlier in the season, but despite his absence this time around, Benitez is sure that the rest of the team can still claim a vital victory.

"Gerrard is a key player for us, especially attacking, but the team is doing well," Benitez added.

"The team know they have to attack and they have to win and it doesn't matter Gerrard is not there. All of them try to push and try to help."

Not sure I'd go with Tevez, as good as he is. I'd prefer to spend that kinda money convincin Villa or Silva to join their Spanish brethren and take us on. Torres doesn't need Tevez, but CAN play with Villa and Silva to a very very high standard, not a guarantee with Tevez.

Go for broke, buy both the Spaniards and trust in us scorin more than every opponent we have!! :D  Football for the cardiac challenged!!

Well, the summer was far aswell when the journos asked about Silva, and he gave an answer.

So this refusal to answer may mean something.

Valencia need to make as much as they can so will create a bidding war for Villa and Silva. That rules us out.

The fact Valencia need the money means we may jus be able to get 1 of them, and jus 1 wud improve ANY side imo.
