That would be great news. I like Tevez a lot, think he would be awesome for us. I think the reason he has been below par this season is firstly the lack of starts he's had and also the fact he is so :censored: off at United.
At WestHam and last season at Manure he was incredible and just imagine him and Nando playing in a 4-4-2 with Stevie just behind, Mascha DM, Barry on the left, Downing on the right, Insua LB, Agger, Carra, Arbelola RB, Reina in goal. Now that is one hell of a team.  :buttrock
Even if we only get Downing and Tevez without Barry the team will be massively strengthened and it will give Rafa a lot of genuine options.

Now that Parry will be gone, the chances of getting him will be a lot higher than before.

I'd gladly take Tevez!

The ManU fans like him alot apparently I think if he didnt come it would be down to the loyalty of the Manc fans. Fergie does not really have a say in it this time around compared to the Heinze transfer.

But at the end of the day money Talks and maybe Mascha will have a hand in swaying him to come our way.

With Tevez a potential target we'd certainly have to make room for him in the side, Gerrard may have to be shifted yet again for the good of the team. There is no way Rafa can leave Tevez out of the side Keane-style!

Mmmm... this is quite interesting... Dont get me wrong here i like Teves and think he's a great player and all but this could be a game changer right here... buy him and i expect us to go out and sell one of Alonso or Mascherano (preferably mascherano) to have Gerrard back in the middle... Gerrard dpwn the right has sort of become a no-no given the way he's been playing down the middle in recent times...

Theres no two ways in looking at this imo... If we're going to go out and buy Tevez then WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE GOT TO play him in his position... anything other than that and i'd call it a waste of money.... bring him in and treat him the way we treated Keane, would be even worse...

I'm not sure why we keep messing up good things everytime we seem to stumble upon them.. seems to be something of a reccurring theme for Benitez.... setup a good side with good players who fit... start looking decent as a unit... BOOM... lets start over again...

All that said... i'd love it if we can somehow get Teves and a right winger and go back to playing 4-4-2... i wouldnt like to think of it as a step down but its a gamble, thats for sure...

RW - Gerrard - Alonso - Riera

        Torres - Teves

not in a million years... i dont think Rafa would change the formation and if we bring in Teves i expect much of the same "ermmm..lets just bench him for this one or throw him down the left flank, 2 upfront is too much for this one" ..

He'll be a good player to see here but will he fit into our system? The last time we tried to do a 4-4-2 with Robbie Keane it didn't work out too well.

Probably because Robbie Keane was totally useless

Imagine this line-up

                                    Torres

                  Silva            Tevez        Gerrard

                           Alonso     Mascharano

                  Aurelio   Carragher Skertel  Arbeloa

                                    Reina

would be a great signing and give us another option up top. Torres can't play every game and, but i also think the 2 of them would work well together too

Keane useless? Hardly .. but I agree that buying Tevez could just upset the balance we've struck.  There's no way we should ship out players like Masch or Alonso to make room for a Tevez, good as he is and Stevie has to stay in his advanced role.  We need someone strong on the right and another top class striker who can get 20 goals and terrorize defenders.  Prem league defenders would sh*t themselves lining up against Torres, Eto and Stevie next season.[/I]

But if Ferguson didn't allow Heinze to come to Liverpool and forced his way to Real Madrid, I don't see how he'll allow Tevez to come the team he fears and hates, if he doesn't end contract.

Tevez is a great striker.

Furgie couldnt do anything about it if he came to us they dont own him, he can play for who ever he wants.

Better ball controll than Dirk, and not prolific infront of goal, undecided about this one really. Another hard worker. Think we need a target man meself and someone who is as prolific infront of goal as Torres.

yeah I agree... would be in improvement over kuyt though...

And an improvement over Keane. Keane is an international, but he wouldn't be an ARgie international in a million years and even with half the Argie population sick, he wouldn't be picked.

:D

so kuyt is better than keane because kuyt is a dutch international compared to an ireland one and always get picked...  :D

Well, as a striker they're not good enough for Liverpool neither of them.

But in professionalism there's no comparison. I would only consider Keane for a small club because he has small club mind. He has no will to adapt. "with another manager things could have worked" he said. No. He's a loser.

He could have been a very valid player to play behind Torres, but never really wanted to adapt. He could have scored more goals, but he missed many, and in some others he missed them because he wanted to do it technically beautiful when he hasn't the skill. He simply thinks he's better than he is. He has read a friendly journo too much or something, or perhaps his mum is telling him he's pretty all the day. I don't know, but had I known what kind of player he is, I wouldn't have signed him. Mistake of Rafa.

Kuyt instead is a great professional, and he has shown he's able to adapt to a new position. Keane instead wants to play always, the way he thinks he should play, and with the methods he deems compatible.

On Keane I'd suggest him to go to play to Hibernians, Bohemians, or some team ending in ians, because this is too big for him. He's a good player yes, could have been succesful with another mindset yes, but the fact is that he hadn't the correct mindset.

So yes, I preffer kuyt after the Keane gate. And no, Keane wouldn't make it into the Dutch squad neither. :D

P.S. And don't get it as a lack of respect to Ireland, I love the country and the football. You just can't compare in terms of selection a 4m populated country who has other sports like Rugby to choose from, with a nation of 40M people who lives for football almost completely.
