S@int stands back and awaits blast from Leon about how subs changed the game in CL FINAL, FA CUP FINAL etc etc.
The fact that Rafa uses all his subs in almost every game seems to elude him
Dont worry about Leon, I think he's alright really. But in any case I'll back you up S@int.
Have to disagree with you a bit there tel regarding the Rafa Rafa rarely wins games with his subs Istanbul remember

That was three years ago Nanny FFS, what about in between times, we shouldnt keep pointing back to the CL as a comfortable reminder in how great Benitez is.
Sabre wrote:You could mention the Everton game this season too, won after the subs, we have done several late match wins this season if I recall correctly.
I think that the "he reads the game better"-ish opinions vary depending how popular is the manager that month. As we speak Rafa's popularity is not in a maximum, but quite the opposite, so it's not surprising he's compared even with Klinsmann, and now Mourinho is even considered suitable instead of Rafa for dozens of Liverpool fans. 1 year ago that would have been unthinkable. But this is football.
From this outer view, when I read some of you scousers, for some reason I don't find very compatible your attitude with the one Mourinho used to show when coached Chelsea. Has earned Mourinho in Chelsea credit enough to move to a bigger club like Liverpool?
He has obtained two premiership titles, but he has needed a lot of money muscle for that. If that muscle is not provided by H&G, will he do the same? in how much time?
Too many doubts about Mourinho, if I have to be honest. I liked Capello if Rafa had to go, but now he's in England, I don't have many ideas.

If we had signed him then rather than Rafa would we now have two more league titles to our name....... not a chance in hell. Would we have made title challenges.... probably.

I agree with the not a chance in hell bit Saint and probably the bit concernin the title challenge
But you could look at it the other way IF we would have got Mourinio . The possibility was there for Rafa to go to Chelsea . Would they have won Champions leagues Yes imo
Would they have still won the prem Yes

Rafa is better at preparation and planning, but once the whistle is blown, I question Rafa's ability to change things.

I could give you a couple more (wheres Saint to look thing up when you need him)
Might be a better motivator at winding the opposition fans up
As i said in another thread i would love to see how good Mourinio is when he is managing an ordinary team without ,millions at his disposal ill make my mind up on him then.

I think Chelsea would have probably won the CL under Rafa (and maybe more than once!) BUT i'm not convinced about the title. Its all hyperthetical I know but thats my opinion. Chelsea had a big squad, but big enough for Rafa ?

You mean like managing a team like Porto? If they only won the league with Mourinho, I'd say you are right to be cautious. But there were a couple of UEFAs and Champions league titles he won there with what were at the time players no-one had heard of. His biggest star was Benni McCarthy who plays for Blackburn not Juventus
And I think the Real Mardid galactico experiment proves that buying the most expensive players in the world doesnt guarentee you success. Sure Mourinho had an easier job at Chelsea than he would have at Fulham, but Chelsea wont win anything with their current manager either

Agreed he won the Champions league beating Marseille maybe he won the portugese league but how many teams are are actually top teaams in that league
Rafa broke the Barca = Madrid stonghold in a far superior league and won in Europe also with no money.
I Dunno mate the jurys still out on him for me . He likes to be bigger than the club he likes to think he is the club and as Daws said in one of hes posts im not sure if its in this thread Chelsea seem to be doing ok without him.
Id like to ask you one question would you sooner have him as our manager instead of Rafa
