And right on que..........

Translated Rafa Benitez Xabi Alonso knows that he wants to play in Madrid. So he did know his agent, Inaki Ibanez, at a meeting held on May 22. Therefore the technical Liverpool, aware also of the interest of Madrid by the player, want to take the biggest slice possible. If last week were informed that Benitez had increased its valuation to $ 40 million, now 50 and calls for two players: Negredo (Madrid ran the option to repurchase on Saturday in exchange for five million euros) and the reds Bueno. The coach will have to tighten the rope as possible. Yesterday, despite the fact that Benitez has already put on the table for Xabi to leave Anfield, again reiterated in the British media that the ex will not leave for Real: We have no money, that's clear, and we must improve the team because we are in a good position. "

Therefore,
apart from money, the coach wants to fish in Madrid. His old interest in the former Almería (contact the player admitted in April) is now added Good. The canterano, 21, has 16 goals this campaign in Castilla. In addition, the October 30 debut with the first team in the official party. Was Irún in Cup (3-2). At the back (4-3), marked his first time, a golazo. In League (23 minutes played), debuted on November 22, at the Recre.

Oh and a promise that they wont try and sign Silva, if we agree to let Xabi join them, how very feckin thoughtfull of them

Hope they win feck all I hate that club.

:D

Well, it's no secret that I want us to hold onto Xabi this summer no matter what but, in the spirit of silly season, I could definitely play the "if we absolutely had to sell Alonso" game if some of these names were in the frame as part of a swap deal.  The names that jump out at me most are Robben, Sneijder, VDV and RVN**--any one of which would add a substantial amount to our attacking play and I reckon we could land at least of couple of them if Xabi were in the mix.  I wouldn't waste the cash on Gago, though.  From what I've seen he would not replace Xabi.  Instead, I'd move Gerrard back to partner Masch and play around a little with the new attacking options further upfield (depending on which two we got etc.).

I would include Huntelaar in that list as well but I think he's more likely to stay or to cost a substantial wedge (not sure why I think that but there you go...)

not completely sold on Gago either. But playing with Mascherano would be the best thing to ever happen to his career, and he is certainly of a high quality despite not being at Alonso's level.  IMO there would be more quality at LFC if the team had both Gago and Sniejder than just Alonso.

but then there is the problem of neither probabaly being as useful as individuals to our team as Xabi, and only XI can be on the pitch at a time. But then you have to consider that one of our biggest problems was not having the real high class quality on the bench that United had.

Robben in a heart beat, he is so damned fast, ran rings around the Norway defence not that that's too hard but all the same, superb player.

I went for Robben as well, cracking player albeit a very fragile one. Knows what it take sin England and he is still relatively young, I wonder if his body is broken now though? A big part of the fee would have to be 'pay as play'.

I'd also take Gudjonsen if he's still there? He didn't make the list but he's a tidy player who would give us a bigger option upfront plus he is versatile enough to play inside right/left.

I've never heard or seen Negredo before now but he sounds like a hot prospect. gutted to hear all the talk about Alonso wanting to leave, the fact he hasn't come out and said anything isn't good and i'm beginning to resign myself to him leaving. I wish we'd seen this coming and gone after Barry now   :(

Gudjonsen is at Barca Scott.

I agree we certainly missed out by not signing Barry.

Negredo is an unknown as far as im concerned.. know he had a good season cant say iv seen much of him or his shhite little team but the fact remains that he isnt and probably wont be for a few years good enough to play for us... Agree with the Robben shouts hes their best player outside the 2 they just signed and I doubt theyd be willing to let him go.. theyr a little short on wingers even with Ronaldo....

Gago if Alonso leaves is a must... think they paid around 40mill for him so doubt he'd come as cheap as some seem to think... hes a top player though and one of those creative deep lying playmakers you dont see many of around... he doesnt have Xabi's passing skills but hes always looking to put someone through or to create spaces behind the oppo midfield or backline... good little player and would be a good replacement for our Xabi.... Dont think we'd get much on top of him if we decided to swap him for Xabi so dont see the point in doing that unless Alonso is insisting on leaving... in which case id still rather have the money instead and spend less on a defensive asset and more on a creative attacking talent... Robben for Xabi take it or leave it would be a good one...

Don't rate gago i think he's pants , infact i go as far as saying obi mikel as more potential than him and they payed around 20.4 million for him and i doubt he has been than great for them , doesn't score at all infact he has only 1 goal for madrid in 70 odd apperances for them and thats a very poor return even lucas has more  :D

Robben? ???

Do people not remember his Chelsea days... He is an exceptional player on his day, but too often he dissapears in big games and rolls around on the ground like a girl. He is also injury prone and has lost a yard of pace.

He is a cheat and I do not want a tw=t like that here.
