for me its more down to seeing that the same problems from last year are still there

3 points, worrying first half, but better second half.

A pity that Keane and Torres didn't understand each other in the chance they had, Torres was facing the goal and was for him, but I guess in that situations you just don't have time to think and they were just unlucky.

Great goal of Torres, Alonso did well to pss the ball quickly on touch and Torres set up an excellent strike.

Negatives? the first half and that like many times last season in the second half we dominated but we failed in the last metres. Arbeloa made a couple of concentration mistakes, and IMHO the team needs some games more.

Xabi turned the game.

Sunderland also lost some impetus in their pressing against us, but I think Xabi helped to carry the ball in the second half. Good game. It's strange that Rafa picked Plessi instead of him, but here we go.

I think the second half we improved alot, especially when Alonso was brought in, his passes again was fantastic today and he broke up some plays and tried his usual effort 60 yards out  :D

Torres, class! what a goal, reminds me of the one against Boro, but low shot though. Dossenna is showing some promising signs, he doesn't hoof the ball, I thought he did well. Gerrard did well too, always a threat. Kuyt and Arbeloa were rubbish!

Astonishing result - :censored: game for us, we realy need to gel a LOT more which is scary when you consider we dont really have a massive amount of new players.

I'm not a fan of Alonso that much but he changed the game today!

I cant believe people giving Keane stick so early on in the season - as for Kuyt    its almost not funny anymore

Hopefully Keane scores soon, if he doesn't I can see him having a heavy pressure season.

We've got the confidence now , much better performance in the second half and compared to the standard game , a good game . We were a bit slow to start but than we held on . Keane and torres linked up well in the 2nd half and torres was unlucky not to score with the keane blocked shot . Roy keane's man are not an easy side to beat and they made it difficult for us , end of the day , we got the result , an improved performance a positive show from keane and torres . Late on in the game , kuyt played better and has should have taken chances on his own instead of squaring them . We beat a full strength sunderland team without , agger , skrtel , babel and maschearno . Arbeloa was the weak link in today's match and i think its time we start playing carragher on the right with agger and skrtel in the middle . We should switch back to the 4-5-1 with keane playing in the hole as a second striker as gerrard was .
Shift gerrard out onto the right , mascherano and alonso in the middle and babel on the left . The yanks need to give us the money for one big name signing , Joe cole , silva or the polish lad that we are looking at .

Im sure he will. If Rafa managed to make a decent player out of Peter Crouch then Robbie Keane should be just fine.
