What, when he played on the right or at left back?

Once in played in the front three from Jan when he was providing the width.

where he supplied half as many assists as Coutinho?

So much for the "proven experience".

I'm not comparing him to Coutinho though

He still played in a natural wide role either left or right whilst Coutinho roamed - it worked well hence the amount of goals scored with all the front players contributing.

I don't know why this discussion is dragging on - we know he isn't good enough and the manager is doing something about it.

Of course your not comparing him to Downing, you know you'd be on a loser.

It worked well because Sturridge, Coutinho and Suarez were part of an attacking quartet.

Who  could quite easily be replaced amongst this quartet Benny, Sturridge, Countino, Suarez or Downing?

And Downing was also part of it when both Sturridge and Suarez didnt play ( Bans, Injury or benched ) .

And amongst that quarter for a number of games it was Sturridge who missed out until Suarez was banned.

Rubbish.

Unless you can back that up with exact games, results and players who played.

With a quick check

Sturridge joined in Jan - since he joined we had 18 prem games - Sturridge started 11 ( the last 4 since Suarez was banned ) was sub for another 4 and injured for the others.

Suarez and Sturridge started together 6 times with Coutinho as a front three the rest was involving Downing.

We would struggle to offload Downing for more than £6m. Where is the interest? Fulham and who else? He's not actually being chased by any of the top  clubs and the reason is simple. HE'S DOWNRIGHT FKG AVERAGE and losing him represents very little risk and I struggle desperately to understand why anybody would argue strongly in favour of keeping him other than simply arguing for the sake of it !!. He ponced around like a prima donna for 15 months. He even gesticulated to the Kop to shut up when he eventually had the decency to score a goal. What a classic way to endear yourself to fans that you had failed to impress since arriving at the club.He needed a massive kick up the ars.e from BR before he started making a contribution and let's face it he was made to look better than he is because of the contribution of other players. Never impressed by him as a player or his attitude. The way he disappears in games would impress most magicians !!

If judging a player is represented by what clubs are chasing them then a lot of players wouldn't be very highly judged.

You asked me very politely yesterday not to respond to your posts and I fully intend to comply with your request. I would ask you to do the same for the sake of the forum. We simply don't agree on anything so let's just leave it at that.

Would be a result if a club took him on a permanent deal.

so the cost of our new `starting XI` wingers will add up to the grand total of £10m?
pushing the boat out there arent we?

Don't let price fool you.

Downing cost us 20 mil, Coutinho 8 mil. If price was a true indicator those two prices would be reversed.

thats the exception to the rule though, in footy you generally have to pay for quality, hence all the rich clubs are at the top of the game.
spending £10m on two starting XI wingers isnt exactly a statement of intent is it? how the mighty have fallen
