I've seen it all now, Gerrard is as I said "untouchable" in some eyes, not even open to criticism, yet Kuyt and Lucas get slated LR&C whether fair or otherwise and that's ok.

Then again that sums up a forum under current circumstances

I don't know whose posts your reading to suggest he is untouchable from criticism.

My problem is the type criticism he receives. Lack of effort, sulking, etc.

Grow up, I have watched him this season and the problems are not lack of effort or sulking. Its fitness and focus. Fitness is injury related, he clearly hasn't recovered, and focus is because he is surround by average players and a liability of a manager.

As for the comparison for his failure against those of Lucas and Kuyt....gobsmacked. Don't talk to me about the state of this forum when there are comments spouted like that.

what kind of madman allows his players to play when injured though?

he aint injured, he aint having pain injections (ok you do that maybe once or twice to get through important games) but not all season

hes just lost heart at liverpool f.c and also hes lost a bit of pace too, hes clearly slower these days

he clearly gave 100% for england in recent games, was just poor thats all.

We beat Man Utd earlier in the season with Torres still carrying an injury, he said it himself in the post match interview.

GYBS you clearly have some issue with Stevie, did he maybe refuse to give you an autograph or something.

In my opinion I would say that out of Torres and Stevie it is Torres who looks like he doesn't care at times this season, his attitude this season has been very bad. The bottom line is that both Stevie and Nando are p1ssed off with Rafa and the complete rubbish they have to play alongside week in week out and I don't blame them one bit. As for effort I think Stevie is still working hard which is all credit to him, many players would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.

No issues with Gerrard at all - actually met him a number of times over the last couple of years

You have no idea at all if Torres and Gerrard are pi.ssed off with Rafa - not the first clue - no one does nor do you know he is pis.ssed off with his teammates

And even if he was once he pulls that shirt on he should be putting him 100% effort for the club and fans that helped him get where he is now and pay his massive wages and idolise him - they expect the players to leave it all out on the pitch and show they deserve the songs being sung about them .

And you have no idea whether Gerrard is putting in 100% or not. The manager obviously thinks he is doing as well as his injury will allow or he would have dropped him ....wouldn't he? Surely that is the managers job?

Well i can only judge what i see on the pitch saint and i have seen numerous occasions when he has either misplaced a pass and then just stood there head down or when he has tried to take someone on and they have easily robbed him of the ball and he just stood there doing nothing to try and get it back for us - im sorry but i have seen him sweat blood and tears and work his a.rse of for years and put in 100% every game for us for many years yet i havent seen it enough this season .

For F.UCKS SAKE saint - hwo can that be his excuse all season when he was FINE AND PUTTING IN ALL THE EFFORT IN THE WORLD WHEN HE WAS PLAYING FOR ENGLAND .He was loosing the ball yet was happy to chase back for england - why not for us ? Is he only injured for us and not england ? If the injury is effecting him that much do you think he will pull out of the world cup ? i bet next game for england and during the WC he puts all his effort into winning the WC

Well you know, we wont get 4th, evryone including Gerrard sucks... people get angry and it's a known fact that when the most favourated player dissapoints us, we say bad things about him.He really does suck this season, but he still is my favourate player, the ideal captain (even if he elbows people, I mean, who doesnt from time to time ) and the best thing that has happend to this team for years.I think that if we get something this season (4th place or the Europa Cup) it will be becouse of him.But I do hate something about him, and thats his statmants that he will leave and stuff.Loyalty is very important to me, and I considered Gerrad a loyal player, but now he's starting to get on my nerves about this leaving thing.I know that it's all speculate and its unlikable for him to leave, but even speculations are too much for me .His form this season bugs me to, but you know it happens to a player.I dont remember people hating him last year when he was the league's best player, or at the time when he won us the Cup and the CL, but this thing about leaving, a thing said by our best player who actully is from Liverpool and has been an apparent Liverpool fan is unacceptable for me.

Maybe you should be asking the question "Why does Rafa keep picking Gerrard when he has a £20million player on the subs bench?" and also " Why is Aurelio not playing and putting in 100%?" ...... maybe its because HE'S FECKING INJURED TOO

Sorry injury excuse doesnt wash with me anymore - can understand it earlier in the season but if the player can put in 100% when playing for his country he can certainly do it for his club .

We can all argue until we are blue in the face, but the fact is he has been below par this season, because hes such a great player you notice it more. yes he has saved our bacon on many occasions and has carried the team for the last 7-8 years. Maybe he cant do it anymore now he isnt getting any younger and to many injuries have caught up with him.
I said last year that him and Torres should have had their ops and they would have been back fresh and injury free for the remaining part of the season as it happened torres had another op and gerrard had a rest instead of an op.

He was brilliant in that game for England maybe he wanted to prove he can be captain in SA or maybe the service he was getting from the other England players made him play so well.
And he's usually sh!te when he plays for England
He played pretty well against Pompey & Lille, but stunk the joint out against Wigan and Wolves but so did the rest of the team.

Has he had a poor season by his standards yes I believe so, but we will fuckin miss him when he's gone and we may never find a replacement for him

Is it not a managers job to pick the best team and to drop players who arn't giving 100% ? So if he hasn't been dropped that means the manager is satisfied that Gerrard is trying his best given he is carrying an injury, or that Rafa is not doing his job as manager........take your pick.
