Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ben Patrick » Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:31 pm

i cant believe that some people would think that Gerrard just wouldnt try and put effort in  :no

i actual think to question his attitude is plain wrong, the lad has been at the club all his life and done more for us than any player in recent times.
There is no justification at all in these comments.

Some of the comments on the captain who is having regular injections and risking long-term injury for the good of the club are nothing short of disgusting. The ironic thing about it is that the very people who make them are the same ones in many cases who berate anyone who dares to voice discontent with the manager. If I talked about the manager in the same terms which half of these clowns talk about the captain, I'd be banned for life (probably the reason given would be for putting too may vowels in the post, not having enough capital letters, or having a name which starts with 'M' or something equally serious).

All this "immune from criticism" stuff is nonsense as well. Who on planet Earth doesn't accept that Gerrard has been way below his best this season? He's been at no more than 50% of his full throttle I'd say, and we've suffered for it. Comparing him with Aquilani though  feck me I've heard it all.

Just like some people find some of the stuff thrown at Rafa to be nothing short of disgusting .

Also if Gerrard is having injections all the time is he going to stop during the summer and go for an operation for the good of the club ? or going to keep injections going so that he can go to the WC .

If he was all about the club he would have the op during the summer so next season he starts with a full clean bill of health

Comeon man that's a bid too hard to ask from someone to miss a WC.I doubt that you will find a player that would do that.Gerrard is all about the club, bud with some borders, normal for any player.

we've fk'd fourth place off big time already so he could now go for that surgury as we don't really need him to play out the last games for boring 1-1 draws and the odd loss and the odd win here and there.

Go egt the surgery Stevie and be back next season firing on all cylinders.

Why is it hard ? I couldnt give a feck about england in the WC - i give a feck about Liverpool Football Club and that is where i want Gerrard playing his best football and not for England . But i know he would never give up England for the sake of his club becuase i have read his book .

You cant begrudge him for not wanting a WC medal GYBH its probably the last chance saloon for him plus he missed the last one through injury.

Im no England fan but would love for our captain to get a WC medal and lift the trophy not that England we will in like :D But im just sayin.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

You're starting to turn into a real arrogant b"stard, Mick. People are critical of Gerrard because they've a pair of eyes. They are not blind to his browbeating of certain players, his body language, lethargic performances, and his general poor attitude. It's not just people like me that sit at home and notice it; it's regular match goers who are there week-in-week-out who say it also. No one is questioning Gerrard's abillity or form. None are citing that he should be sold (save for a few knee-jerkers), but the fact that he is our f*cking captain and gets paid 'x' amounts of money every week, yet his verbal and demonstrative influence in games is virtually none existent these days. You wouldn't even say he was the same player as last season, and when things get bad, that's when a leader, a captain, is supposed to lead by example. What's his example? Running into team mates who are far less experienced than him then turning round to give them a mouthfull? Throwing his head up and kicking his heels when the ball isnt passed? Demanding to take every f*cking corner when he can't often beat the first man? Gerrard is an amazing player, has done exeptional things for us, but the Dalglish of this generation is souring his reputation of late by looking as if he doesn't give a f*ck what goes on down on that pitch. Yesterday he was none-existent...again. He's clearly got something personal going on, and it's to the detriment to this team currently.

He played in the last one ciggy - he missed 2002 when he got injured on England duty and not for the first time . Yes would love him to win a WC but not at the expense of Liverpool Football Club .

Agreed. It's ridiculous to expect any player to pass over a chance to play in the greatest tournament the game has to offer.

Especially when it's his last chance.

You know he does play for his country.Maybu he's a patriot :D, but you cant just leave a WORLD CUP.I mean it's a WORLD CUP, every palyer's dream is to play and maybu win one.If h does choses do do an op and miss the World Cup will prove how loyal he is, if he doesnt it will prove nothing, and he still could be considered as loyal, but you cant ask such a thing from a player, and trust me there is no such player no matter how loyal he may be.

Carra stopped pplaying for England when he would of been going to major tournaments - turned down capello as well to return to the set up . Said he wanted to ensure his best days were for his club

maybe becasue you've never represented your country.

you dont know what its like.

Almost every single player in the game of football wants to play for their country as well as their club, even if it is their boyhood club. If he had to choose one or the other, he'd probably choose club - but he currently thinks he can do both.
