leave it out, it's not remotely funny

This is a complete rethink on what I would've originally proposed, and is based on the injury to Carvalho. In his place almost certainly will be Essien, who is good in the tackle, but not so great in the air. Add to that the fact that he is not a natural defender, and I think we have found the chink in Chelsea's armour. When playing against Crouch and a high ball comes in, you need to be keeping more than half an eye on who he might be nodding the ball down to, as most of the time he won't be heading for goal. This is very hard to do, and all but the top defenders fail to deal with it, doing what comes instinctively and challenging Crouch for the ball in the air. I feel Essien will fall into this trap, and seing as he's not good in the air anyway, Crouch will win the majority of balls. Gerrard has built a brilliant understanding with Crouch, he always seems to know exactly where the big man's gonna nod the ball down. For me, this formation will get us the goals required without leaving ourselves open at the back, for if we concede we have a mountain to climb.
Some of the more attentive of you may have noticed that I've put Agger & Carragher on opposite sides from normal. This isn't a mistake, for this one match I think this minor change is necessary. Agger was pulled all over the place by Drogba on Wednesday, especially for the goal, and I feel the aggression of Carragher would be more suited to his physical game. Shevchenko on the other hand is more of a technical player, and should provide an easier challenge for the young Dane. Calls for Hyypia to come in though, are in my opinion unfounded and unwise. One thing Chelsea don't lack upfront is pace, something which we all know Sami hasn't got in abundance. Arbeloa didn't have the best game against Pompey, but has impressed when played on the left since joining, and in front of him has Riise, who is more than capable of tracking back and helping out.
With this formation I feel we can get the two goals required, without conceding, and progress to the final. I don't normally predict scorers, but for this one I'm gonna put my neck on the line and say that if we lineup like this, Gerrard will get them both.

Recall Hyppia to nullify Drogba's aerial threat (Agger was pathetic even though I'm a fan of him really)....and we need wing plays by pennant and riise to cause problems at chelsea's full backs (that's where they are weak IMO)...cut back to gerrard/kuyt or cross to crouch...and kuyt should work his pants off to poach whatever he can....
classic 4-4-2...no daimond shapes pls...we need width in attack more than anything...especially if you use crouch...
all in all everyone should work their pants off...
