Generally speaking, Dutch strikers are the business. I've done a fair bit of research into Kujt and he looks like another Makaay.

I also like Albert Luque and signing both him and Kujt would be a serious step in the right direction if you ask me.

Here's more interesting news concernign Aimar (btw he's not 28 as the article says)

Aimar hints at Reds switch
SPAIN Primera Liga, Wednesday June 01 2005
Valencia playmaker Pablo Aimar claims he would love to meet up with former boss Rafael Benitez at Liverpool.

The Argentine midfielder, valued at £10m, has a good relationship with Benitez - the man who brought him to Europe when he was coach of Valencia - and he would relish a chance to showcase his skills in the Premiership.

"Benitez is an excellent coach who knows me well and Liverpool would be an ideal place to go if I can't sort out my future here," said the 28-year-old. "English football is the best in Europe next to Spain and I do not think I'd have a problem adapting to the Premiership."

The European Cup winners are also said to be chasing Real Zaragoza defender Gabriel Milito.

Milito is one of the most highly-rated defenders in La Liga but Zaragoza may be forced to sell as they struggle with debts approaching £30m.

Both players would be major coups for Liverpool as the Rafa Revolution gets underway at Anfield.

I wouldn't want Aimar.

This Kuyt fella looked good agaisnt England and has a reputation. I've seen him tiwce and been impressed with his movement but both times i've saw the lad he hasn't scored. He looked lively and had a good touch, fairly strong, quite quick but not great at either.

Can't really say more than that on the matter.

I still think a goalkeeper, striker (unless one of the current crop comes good) and a left winger should be the priorities though.

Saw him against Finnland the other day and like Stu said he has a pretty good touch, he's quick on his feet and can get himself in good positions to score an easy goal.

For instance late in the game when Van Persie went around the Finnish back four he passed the ball into open space and Kuyt went straight away to the ball without any problems from the Finnish defense and scored an easy goal.

We need a poacher imo and perhaps Kuyt could be it.

It would have to be a major formation change to accomodate him. He is similar to Luis Garcia in terms of positional play, size and strength so IMO we don't really need him.

Unless Rafa were to play a formation something like this in Midfield, with Morientes or Cisse up front on their own.

                              Alonso

       Gerrard                                    Riise

               Garcia                  Aimar

TribalFootball - so take it with a pinch of salt!!

Everton, Liverpool linked with Betis star Edu
tribalfootball.com - June 10, 2005

Everton and Liverpool are going head-to-head for Real Betis striker Edu.

The Brazilian's contract is owned by Celta Vigo, but he spent last season on-loan at Betis where he struck 11 times.

Betis have the option of making the deal permanent, but Edu's agent has revealed there has already been an approach from a Liverpool-based club, although he refused to confirm which one.

LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez will spend the weekend reevaluating his striking options after Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt begged the Anfield boss to launch a bid.
Benitez's is working with a budget of £30m as he prepares a major overhaul of his squad, and he'll make numerous signings over the next fortnight.

Chief executive Rick Parry returns from an Academy coaching trip to Barbados today and it promises to be a pivotal weekend at Anfield when he and Benitez meet to finalise their transfer plans.

Kuyt has been a long-term target for Benitez, but having discovered the Reds have turned their attention to Southampton's Peter Crouch, the 24-year-old Dutchman said: "I would really want to go to Liverpool. It's a great club and I hope I can play for them.

"Liverpool have contacted Feyenoord but no bids have been made."

Benitez's problem is an initial £10m valuation which would swallow a third of his summer budget.

The Reds boss switched towards Crouch, hoping he could seal a deal for around £5m.

However, with Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe insisting Crouch won't leave for less than £7m, and reports in Holland suggesting Feyenoord may now accept £8m for Kuyt, it's clear there is more negotiating still to be done before Benitez makes his next move.

There was talk of Jerzy Dudek returning to Holland as part of a deal for Kuyt, but the Pole has stated he wants to stay and fight for his place.

The recent sacking of Ruud Gullit has further complicated matters.

Dutch media have printed an expected squad list for Feyenoord next season with Kuyt a notable absentee.

Newcastle are also being strongly linked with the player, although if Liverpool made a bid there's no doubt they'd be favourites to capture him.

With the round of international fixtures over, events should move quicker over the next seven days.

Crouch has clearly emerged as Benitez's top target over the past week, but the Spaniard won't be held to ransom by the relegated south coast club.

The manager's trump card is both strikers' determination to move to the European Champions.

Kuyt has now made his feelings public, while Crouch has also privately set his heart on a move north.

well if this is the case (as u havent stated any source) lets hope and pray that southampton are intent on the £7M because i dont want crouch, hes had a strong finish to an average season. and i honestly believe that "average" is the most suitable desciption for him.

this Kuyt boy on the other hand has been bangin them in all season, and scored in both holland games in the past week. his desire makes me keen as well...

I have seen him play alot(because i follow Dutch football) and i must say that he's very good. He's like a second Van Nistelrooy, he always scores goals.( he  may even be better then V.nistelrooy, actually). I think he will get used to English  football very quickly.
