This from sky sports...

Liverpool are keeping close tabs on highly-rated Slovak defender Martin Skrtel.

Hamburg and Anderlecht are also monitoring the 20-year-old who is currently plying his trade in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg.

Skrtel only moved to Zenit last summer from AS Trencin when they beat Hertha Berlin to his signature, mainly due to the fact that the Russian side are managed by Slovak Vlastimil Petrzhela.

Now the youngster has emerged as one of the best defenders in the Russian league and he is attracting interest from some of Europe's big hitters.

Petrzhela has confirmed Liverpool's interest in his young starlet.

"The Englishmen are seriously interested in buying Martin," confirmed Petrzhela to SovSport.

"But we don't want to lose him.

"This weekend Skrtel was called to the national team for the first time, but I asked Dusan Galis not to use Martin in the first team and to use him in the Under-21s.

"I want to keep him away from scouts. But they looked for him in the Under-21 game too."

Slovakia are now a full fledged member of the EU, so Liverpool would be allowed to sign Skrtel without any work-permit problems.

Never heard of this guy, anyone else?

AN extract from the Liverpoolfc.tv website just yesterday.
Never seen him play before but if he's as good as what they say, than i think it's a pretty darn good deal !!

____

Liverpool could resurrect the deal bring winger Mark Gonzalez to Anfiled by agreeing a year loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Gonzalez was on the verge of signing for Liverpool before injuring his cruciate ligament two weeks before the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Chilean international was recommended by Anfield's new chief scout, Pako Herrera, who used to work at Gonzalez's current Spanish club, Albacete.

The Spanish side were relagated from La Liga, but an ill-timed injury threatened to leave Gonzalez - unsurprisingly nicknamed 'Speedy' due to his lightening pace - in limbo.

However, Rafa Benitez is determined to conclude a deal, even though he'll be without the winger until at least October.

Gonzalez can play on either flank or as a striker. His transfer fee could be as little as £1m, although even this would be delayed if his club agree to a loan in order for the player to prove his fitness once he returns form injury.

Norwegian newspaper "Forballidioten" has today confirmed that transfer negotiations are ongoing between Liverpool and Start regarding Kristoffer Hæstad. A transfer value is indicated to be in the region of 2,6-3,0 mill £.

John Arne Risse of Liverpool to Arsenal - £3.5 mill

Birmingham City to buy Ade Akinbiyi and Nunez(from Liverpool)

Liverpool will be told later this week that they can have a Champions League place, but only if they beat Merseyside rivals Everton in a two legged match

Liverpool hav made a 12.5mil offer 4 ashley cole but thr iz intrest frm barca n ac milan. if cole joins lpool riise wil stay at left mid and so traroe wil av 2 leave or stay on the bench. lpool targeted evra if cole deal duznt work

liverpool wont sign as many players as some might think it will be milito and swp that go to liverpool and baros will move to barca

raul is coming to liverpool

figo to liverpoll done deal and liverpool will sell kewell, pelligrino and baros to buy wright phillips raul and owen hargreaves

Carlos Teves is to sign for LFC in a bumper 15 million deal!

raul to liverpool for 15million they aren't getting wright phillips because they can't afford him if they get raul aswell as that they are unfortunately getting Peter Crouch for 5million

liverpool will sign kuyt 7mill and dudex.SWP 10 Mill and Pongolle and le tallec.vicente 4 mill and baros. bridge 5 mill. reina 6.5 mill, and surprisingly ledley king 12 mill. paco agystream {assistant mansger} was in my dads cab and heard him and paco herrera talkin in spanish about these deals.Lfc team line up next yr GK-Reina, RB-Finnan, LB-Bridge, CB-Carra, CB-King, RM-SWP, LM-Vicente,CM-Alonso,CM-Gerrard,FC-Kuyt,FC-Morientes. 199.99% true *dan da man*

liverpool are keeping thier eyes on dutch league, esp on feynoord while kuijt, kalou and ono all watched by rafa. kuijt is shorter but more perfect striker than crouch, kalou is cheaper and nearly as good as swp, and ono can use both feet for immance passes just like xavi alonso, who will give the depth to the squad

Yeah right, we are the next galacticos ! Raul and Figo! Who is next, Beckham ?

And I thought Pellegrino was to leave on a free. It's great if someone will pay LFC for him  :D

And a really silly rumour - I have heard from a Romanian friend that Liverpool are interested in Steaua Bucarest right defender George Ogararu - he is 25 years old, apparently very talented and would come probably quite cheap... that is if the club lets him...

What can we do?Remember, plenty of stars were virtual unknowns until they go to a big club or play in a big tournament. For example,Cantona and Bergkamp were almost unknown to their current fans when they first came.

Cantona might of been unknown to an extent with leeds fans, but to say Bergkamp was unknown before he joined Arsenal is madness. He signed from Inter Milan and was Hollands star striker :eyebrow

Deportivo La Coruna's Spain international striker Albert Luque believes a move to European champions Liverpool would suit him.

Rafael Benitez is reportedly chasing the 27-year-old forward's signature, with Luque's club claiming one offer has already been rejected.

Luque, who scored for Spain in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Saturday, said: "At Liverpool I have friends like Luis Garcia and goalkeeper Jose Reina, who will arrive soon.

"I want a quick decision so I can go on my holiday and know where I am playing next season.

"English football is excellent and I have no doubt that I could play in the Premiership.

"My characteristics will suit English football and the supporters will be happy with my style and the goals I would score."

Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro added: "We refused the first offer [for Luque] from Liverpool because it was insufficient, but we are still open for the negotiations."
''I talk about the table. We need a leg, so I have bought a leg.'' Rafa Benitez

It says on teltext that deportivo want us to increase our bid of £8m to £12m which is probably more than we can afford imo. I dont know much about luque except that he scored a nice goal against milan in the cl last year and that if they let pandiani go out on loan and kept luque, that means that he's good

Sochaux have reportedly joined the race for Liverpool misfit Bruno Cheyrou.

The midfielder had been on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille over the course of the past season, although failed to secure a starting berth at Stade Velodrome during his stay.

With Liverpool claiming the UEFA Champions League trophy in Rafa Benitez's first season in charge it is unlikely that Cheyrou will be considered a valuable first team player at Anfield next season.

The 27-year-old is expected to remain in France next term and has attracted interest from both St Etienne and Nice as he attempts to rejuvenate his career after a spell in the footballing wilderness.

Sochaux are now also believed to be considering a move for Cheyrou as they look to bolster their squad following the departure of Tunisian striker Francileudo dos Santos.

Guy Lacombe's side finished a respectable tenth position in Le Championnat, and would view Cheyrou as an important addition to the squad if they can fend off other interest in the Liverpool man.

nooooooooooooooooooo :(   :(

he is such an important player for us :D
