ST. MIKE'S RUMOUR THREAD - All silly season rumours here please

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think he'd be a good signing. A very good english player who could really tighten the defense. However, I read today that Gabriel Milito is a done deal, so I don't know what to think now. That's what I love and hate about this time of year - the transfer speculation is great when it actually seems to be going somewhere, but it's so often just nonsense.

I read that story on Gerrard, and it's total BS.  There were no facts, just rumors and "through the grapevine" garbage.  I really can't see anyway he's leaving right now.

Anyone know Torres?Heard he's the rising star in Madrid(Atletico) and he mentioned in a magazine about wanting to join Liverpool.

But about signings,we need a decent left flank(MF & DF).Kewell,Risse and Traore are good but the numbers are few.Warnock pales in front of them.Phil Neville would be good seeing Heinze is almost replacing him.

Being a first-generation Chilean-Australian, im VERY excited about this prospect:

Liverpool could resurrect the deal bring winger Mark Gonzalez to Anfiled by agreeing a year loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Gonzalez was on the verge of signing for Liverpool before injuring his cruciate ligament two weeks before the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Chilean international was recommended by Anfield's new chief scout, Pako Herrera, who used to work at Gonzalez's current Spanish club, Albacete.

The Spanish side were relagated from La Liga, but an ill-timed injury threatened to leave Gonzalez - unsurprisingly nicknamed 'Speedy' due to his lightening pace - in limbo.

However, Rafa Benitez is determined to conclude a deal, even though he'll be without the winger until at least October.

Gonzalez can play on either flank or as a striker. His transfer fee could be as little as £1m, although even this would be delayed if his club agree to a loan in order for the player to prove his fitness once he returns form injury.

I can honestly say, that he is on fire with the Chilean national team at the mo, and he is well worth the money for a loan, but we should have an option to buy him for less if we decide that he is worth it. He is a great player, and one to look out for, mark my words.

I have it on very good authority we will only sign one spaniard and that will be Reina, there will be no more spaniards coming in this transfer window, so the raul rumours and all the other spanish ones can be put to bed. :rasp

Would have to agree with this.

I have been told that Liverpool will unveil Jose Reina next week when Rick Parry and Rafa Benitez have returned from their holidays. The fee is believed to be in the region of 6-8 million pounds.

To be frankly honest, we should largely ignore the Raul speculation as I eventually don't think he'll leave Madrid and the Joaquin link is also rubbish because the price tag would be far too high.

The strongest realistic links are

Jose Reina
Patrice Evra
Gabriel Milito
Dirk Kuyt
Boudewyn Zenden

Also heard yesterday that there may have been some contact with the agent of Michael Ballack so keep your eyes peeled for any developments.

Jose Reina is a great keeper and i think it's a done deal.  Be interesting to see where that leaves Kirland and Dudek...personally i'd loan Kirkland out and let him get a full season somewhere so we can see how he is.

Apparently Gabriel Milito is also virtually sealed and, although i don't know much about him, he's said to be a quality defender.

who else?  not sure...Boudewyn Zenden would be a decent squad player on a free transfer....Patrice Evra is class...but what about another striker?  Rumours are Mellor is going and so too is Baros...that leaves us needing one classy striker...personally i think Raul won't come here.

He would be good for Liverpool, but I fear he is a little bit of a cheater after that goal..  ???  p*ssed me off with that one  :veryangry  (by the way, I am romanian)

I saw the highlights and he looks very good. Maybe the fact that van nistelrooy was taken off and kuyt was left on the field says something  :p I'd like to see him for lfc but i read somewhere that he's looking for cl football so uefa have to give us a place in next years compo in order for us to sign him

i was readin the "TRANSFER TRACKER" on the liverpool site and i came across Figo

Luis Figo is on the verge of joining Liverpool as talks between the player and club have reached an advanced stage.
The Portuguese international could become the second Real Madrid player to leave Spain for Anfield this year after Fernando Morientes made the move in January.

Figo was the leader of Portugal's 'Golden Generation' and won a FIFA World Youth Championship medal in 1991. He also made his full debut that year against Luxembourg.

He retired from international football after Portugal were defeated by Greece in the EURO2004 final. He had won 110 caps and scored 31 goals during his international career.

Figo left his native Portugal in 1995 and moved to Barcelona for a reported fee of just over 4 million. He spent five wonderful years at the Camp Nou winning two Primera Liga titles and the European Cup Winners Cup.

In an extremely controversial move in 2000, Figo joined arch rivals Real Madrid for a then world record fee of 37 million. The massive fee appeared justified as Madrid and Figo went on to win another two league titles and the Champions League. Figo himself also won the FIFA World Footballer of the Year in 2001.

He has an impressive list of honours to his name including four La Primera titles, Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, two Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, European Cup Winners Cup and two European Super Cup winners medals. As well as his FIFA World Footballer of the Year title in 2001 he had been named European Footballer of the Year the year before.

He can speak four languages including English and is married with one daughter. A move to Merseyside would raise a few eyebrows in the Premiership and would certainly cause a buzz of excitement amongst the Anfield faithfu

what you think rumour or real you tell me ?? :grinning:
