FLO TO LYON TRANSFER SHOCK
Internet Report 23 August 2005

Florent Sinama-Pongolle is in line for a shock move to Lyon, reports the Liverpool Way website.

The French Under-21 striker has recently returned from injury, and has been in impressive form for the reserves, scoring a goal in each of the two games he has appeared in. TLW has been informed however that he is headed back to his homeland, with Lyon almost certainly the destination.

Talks are believed to be at an advanced stage, and a deal is expected to be finalised soon. The news will come as a shock to many, as with the severe lack of options available to Rafa Benitez on the right wing, Sinama-Pongolle had been expected to push for a place in the first team. At this point we are not sure if the deal is a loan or permanent transfer.

The player is rumoured to be unsettled after what happened at the end of last season, when he and several others were left behind as the team toured the city on an open top bus. Missing out on a Champions League medal also added to his disillusionment, and barring a last minute hitch he is set to leave the club before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

This story has been reproduced from today's media and is not necessarily the position of Liverpool Football Club.

For what ? Rafa said earlier in the week that he was happy with the backing of the board and the money made available for transfers. He got the players he asked the board for. Just wait till the 1st of september before making a judgement.

If Pongo goes that leaves us even shorter on the striker front.

Nando
Cisse (if he stays)
Crouch
Mellor

With all due respect to those...not the forward line up of the European champions!  ???

I'm all for Rafa being cagey...but ffs, this waiting is doing my head in.

We are not strong enough to compete at the moment, and there is less than week to go.  My bottle has gone....which is why I'm not the manager of LFC.

I hope Rafa knows what he is doing, and signs the 3 we need this week.

CB
RW
Owen

we should keep Pongo too.  :nod

sylvain distin

Liverpool have opened talks with Manchester City regarding the availability of their defender Sylvain Distin, claim reports today.

It is even suggested that the Reds are already negotiating terms with the player's agents although there is nothing at this time to back those claims up.

The 27-year-old joined City in May 2002 in a £4million deal and although happy where he is, the temptation of playing for the European Champions may be too hard to resist - if the reports are true.

He has American mannerisms, so my guess would be the "Village".
