Spending in jan? - Cash we have and how much we spend?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I have seen Kompany and I am not convinced by any stretch....he doesn't strike me as the CB answer we are looking for. Agger on the other hand has more potential in my opinion.
Someone said we need a pacey striker....erm....I beg to differ, and so would Mr Cisse. Our priorities have always been and will still be a right winger and a centre back for the future. That is it. Anyother young talents that Rafa thinks he can bring in cheap and improve over time he will get but do not expect to see any other established "stars" other than at RW and CB. As for how much we will spend, I cannot see Rafa laying out more that £12 mill for the RW and more than £5 mill for the defender so at an absolute top estimate £17 mill but even this strikes me as highly unlikely.

I think we should buy cup-tied players. We already look like a good side in Europe, and to buy excellent players at a 40 % disco :censored: knowing they cannot play :censored:il next year (well CL anyway) might not be bad business.

spurs are apparently going for him, but he'll go back to sweden, hes got nothing left to proove and hasnt got the physical toughness now to last in the premiership. the guys genius in his time but hes ageing now, definately not the type of player we need or want

If we are to go for a striker in jan I think we should have a look at Nihat. As a striker isn't in our priorities for jan I think Nihat would be a good option as he would be cheap (I think he might be in the last year of his contract?) and he is also very skillful and a good finisher who has a lot of pace.

BBC sport has now done a uturn and says that collocini and cesar arnt
coming here....who do we go after now?Every player we get linked with fails to develop!!Dont think jaquain is coming...too many other big clubs( MU , juve ...) are interested in him.

who the hell is nihat??

I personally think that we wont be signing any new striker in jan.Hopefully will spend 20m out of that 30 i talked abt on signing a real quality right winger and a solid CB(hopefully one that can score 4m headers)...

yup i agree but exp.

If you are a player, where do you go ? A successful club like liverpool or a club that can paid you maybe 150K per week? Unless you are the player like SG. I think 75% answer will be 150K per week ....

As a player would you want to go where you get money and will not be guaranteed a starting 11 spot by any means, or go to a club that will guarantee you football week in and week out.

well at 150K a week, that works out as just short of 8 million in a year.

I think, greatest talent in the world or not that I would be tempted to sit on an bench for a season and then take a 50% paycut for the rest of my career.

Life is full of tough decisions like that :)

Cisse's brother says that cisse is on his way to marseille in jan.. will be a shame if that happened after the  goal he scored .... atleast give him :censored:il jan ... it's not as if we have a great surplus of strikers right now..
