Should we now - Rest some players for our next match?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

our next match is WBA and, if i was incharge, i'd be tempted to rest Gerrard or Alonso.  There is still a LONG way to go this season and it would be nice to rest 1 or 2 legs that we rely on.  Personally i'd rest gerrard for our next match and play Garcia on the right with Hamman in the middle for Sissoko.

There is still talk of the Bolton game being abandoned due to the weather and their undersoil heating not working properly.  We may get a restbreak there.

Back to the WBA game, I say let's cruise past them early in the game like last night against Everton and bring players off halfway through the second half should we need to.  If I sound cocky, it's because I am, I don't believe we will lose this game.

The strange thing is, you're right.  Our players seem to go 2 up and then stop giving 100%....not because they're lazy, but because they want to save themselves for the next match.  As we saw yesterday, if a team does come back into the match, our side seems to step up a gear again and rectify the problem without fuss.

I'm of the opinion that you don't rest players til they actually need rested.  To me none of our players are looking tired at the moment, quite the opposite in fact.

West Brom are coming off the back of a good win against Spurs and although we should beat them obviously, we can't take it for granted.  I'd change no more than 3 players from the team that beat Everton.  I don't believe in not picking our best players either, Gerrard has to play in my opinion, he's in great form and he'd lose momentum if he was left out, as would the team.

If our players get their heads down and put in another 2 good shifts against West Brom and Bolton then they can have a break.  Luton in the cup is after that where we can rest players if needs be and then we have 3 more fixtures in January nicely spread out.

Nah I don't think resting out best players would be a good idea, like it's been said they 'did' Spurs and we can't afford to slip up against the 'smaller' teams like we've done in the past when we've had games in hand.

i/we have seen it many times before when managers of the bigger teams rest players for games considered a walk over.
Then the headlines next day are shock win for :censored: club.
No one in the premiership is a walkover
play the best players you have for each and every game
if your cruising then take players off but not :censored:il

Exactly, in the past we always throw away our games in hand and we really wanna finish about Man U and automatically qualify for the CL rather than having to play the extra games like this year.

I can sort of see the idea of resting players, but like the general opinion goes, rest them once points are in the bag, Lampard hadn't missed a game since 2001 for Chelsea :censored:il yesterday.
The players look in peak condition and we need to keep this run going, West Brom despite there win against Spurs is a banker if we play our strongest side, we could afford to take players off early if the players produce the goods in the first hour, plus the games at Anfield and we havent had to travel at all since we returned from Tokyo over a week ago...and even if the Bolton game is on...its again only up the road.

I am hoping to be 3-0 by the hour mark and then Stevie and whoever else needs it can have a well earned rest, in time for the tricky game against Bolton.

Rafa rotates the squad all the time to keep player fresh so it won't be a surpise if there are three changes....

He won't underestimate WBA cause he has learnt that lesson about the EPL

these were the games we used to trip up on but i reckon 2-0 easy win

Bolton will be tough if it is on they just kick people all over the park . Arsenal found that out but it works so you can't blame big sam for setting his team out like that

should we rest our best players? definately not!!
we are in a good run, thats all, we`ve seen good runs come crashing around our ears in the not to distant past when we were actually top of the league for a couple of months so taking our foot of the accellarator would be a big mistake.
though the games are coming thick and fast the players will hardly be doing any serious training, just some light jogging to get any stiffness out of the system. feeling tired is pyschological half the time and i bet our players cant wait for the next game to come around where everton players are probably feeling knackered.

rest no one! there would be a fool or two in the dressing room if they thought west brom will roll over. and i dont believe there are ANY at LFC.
and besides, rafa wont take his eye off the ball for one second. so why should anyone else?

if we are coasting then, maybe change key players. but NOT before.
the weather is set to get mild by the weekend anyway, so that goes to you too 'fat sam'  :rasp

no hiding place for the trotters either!!
both games - both 3 points. nothing less.
