SHEFFIELD UNITED VS LIVERPOOL - the premiership assault begins

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thank feck for that , it's finally here.
Sheffield Utd will be a physical side ,but so will we .

They will be pumped up for the new season ,but so will we with our new signings.

Liverpool will have to much quality for them in the end and i expect us to win pretty comfortably in the end ,after a mad first 20mins.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing how our new players cope with the speed and physical nature of the premiership. I'm also looking forward to see what side Rafa picks and what formation we'll play.

Comfortable 2-0 win in the end imho.

COME ON REDMEN!!!!!
UP THE PURPS !!!

This by no means is an easy game people!
I'd actually say it's quite a tough one.....REMEMBER..teams play on passion and adrenaline when they come up.

Remember over the years ?Teams come up?
Win first 3,be top o the league...then actually fade into nothing and fight to stay up....Mmmnnn!!
Every LFC fan today at their ground should show a respect to their achievment as should as will every player.

Managers alike will shake hands regardless

We will hopefully smile and maybe laugh!! :buttrock

GOOD LUCK my wee LFC.....YNWA...I LUV

my choice would be:

                       Crouch

                                  Gerrard
Gonzalez                                         Pennant

                 Alonso

                          Sissoko

Riise                                               Finnan
              Agger                Carra

                           Reina

At anytime, from a 4-5-1 we can  go to a 4-2-4.. with Gerrard, Pennant, Gonzalez Crouch attacking, alonso given the option to join in as well. Gonzalez n pennant will pull off defenders wide flank.

Second half, we can revert to a 4-4-2, playing Bellamy upfront wif Crouch. Wld love to see Kyut in action as well.

New season here at last  :)

Won't be easy, but then 1st game of the season are like that.  Their quite a good side so should underestimate them (not that we ever do).

Anyway I'll go for a 2 or 3 nil win for us.

I dont think the score will be 0-2 or 0-3, as some have suggested.

Any sort of win will do for starters. I remember last season we dominated the opener away to Boro and drew 0-0 !

Defeat is unthinkable also, and if that happens it can shape the season to come.

WARNOCK: I'LL NEVER FORGET ISTANBUL
Paul Rogers 19 August 2006
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock might not be everyone's favourite opposition manager but the outspoken Blades boss has spoken with pride about the time he became a passionate Liverpool supporter for one night only.
While Liverpool were reeling from a nightmare first-half against AC Milan in Turkey, Warnock - who grew up supporting the club he now manages - was watching the final on TV while on holiday in Greece.

"They say you always remember where you were when Kennedy was shot," claims Warnock, who insists he has a nice bottle of red wine waiting for Rafael Benitez in his office at Bramall Lane. "Well, I remember where I was when Liverpool were 3-0 down to AC Milan in the Champions League Final. I was on holiday in Greece in a place full of Italians.

"I remember thinking whether I should go to bed because the Italians were taking the p*** out of me. But I thought I would stop and I was the only Englishman to last into the second-half!

"Then the first goal from 25 yards. Did I cheer? I bloody did. I ran round the room. By the third one, even the Italians were giving me high-fives. It was a brilliant night."
