Shay given

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This might have been touched on in the past but do you think that Given would be a good option for us? I know that Kirkland is a mint goalie but he gets injured a lot and I don't have much confidence in Dudek :(, Given is a great keeper cos not only can he stop shots and CATCH THE BALL, but he also ogganises the b0ll0cks the defence if they need to be told

I have a feeling people will tell me this is a sh1t3 post (Leon and Stu) but I just wanted peoples opinions  ???

Given is the most consistent keeper in the premiership, but I reckon we`d have to offer at least 6million to have a chance. He`s worth it though.

Even a keeper such as Shay Given will make a mistake that will end up costing the club three points. i.e. Newcastle vs. Norwich City.

But lets give a Kirkland chance before we critisize him.

Shay Given is a more consistent keeper than that German bloke.Arsenal would take Given tomorrow if they could get him.

Mate I'm not critisizing Kirkland cos as I said he's a mint keeper but he does get injured and we have Dudek to come in who I am critisizing :(

He's a good keeper, one of the best in the league definately, but we'd have to pay silly money to get him.

To be honest i don't rate many goalkeepers around these days. Canizares, Kahn, Toldo an Buffon are about the best i've seen, Buffon and Toldo are to inconsistent tho.

The standard of goalkeeping over the last few years has dipped immensely if you ask me.

Kirkland will turn out to be one of the best keepers the club has ever had

theres always van der sar, hes on the last few omths of his contract, if we are looking to buy someone.
wouldnt mind the norwich keeper either, thees a few of them out there but we should be happy with what we got and sort out the defence first

I've got to be honest i have only seen videos of Clemence playing but i can't remember seeing a keeper play so consistently (when he's fit) as Kirkland at such a young age.  His decision making is very mature, and he keeps his cool under pressure.  I've also been really impressed with his bravery and his attidude when he's been second choice.- If he gets a long run in the team i expect him to be England keeper as well.
