That would be my team and formation Igor !

Henderson instead of Adam.

Keep more or less the same team that won the last three

So don't play Gerrard or Suarez then ?

Notice you later dropped the smart a'rse attitude and rephrased the question
i.e.
Thommo - in this statement do you mean keep the same team or allow for the return of Suarez and Gerrard by making a few changes.

No problem with that, although I would have thought the answer was self evident.

Anyway, that Thommo's a right "firestarter"

Back on topic, I agree with Woof about not stating Carroll here. The thread wasnt meant to be exclusive to the Tottenham game but anyways.
I still maintain that we need to 'more or less' figure out what our strongest starting 11 is and stick with the lineup 'more often than not'.
For me, that lineup has Spearing and Adam in the middle, with Kuyt, Gerrard, and Bellamy playing ahead of them and behind Suarez.

Obviously, there will be games where we'll want or need to replace one, two or even three players from that lineup but I wouldnt advocate changing the shape, formation, positions of players..etc as we have been for large periods of this season. Prime examples of that have been Downing and Henderson. Each has played at least 3 different positions and from all we've seen its clear Downing is a left winger and Henderson will only do a job as part of midfield three.

About the Tottenham game, I know we've been well beaten by them last time we played them, but for me that was largely down to a big selection mistake by Kenny on the night. We've tried the 4-4-2 against them and to put in mildly, it was a colossal fck up. No way in hell would I try that again. That leaves us with the decision we've been struggling with since last January; Carroll or Suarez ?

Now, I know Carroll has improved  in the last few games and has finally contributed with a goal and a couple of vital assists, but his general play remains largely suspect and questions about him fitting our style of play are as valid today as they were the day we signed him. On the other hand, for all his good individual displays, Suarez remains one of the most wasteful forwards in the league. His chance to goals conversion ratio is abysmal, and with all the time hes missed recently from the ban you never know if he'll come back fighting or if hes not even ready to start yet. He certainly fits our style of play better though and imo his presence in the side instead of Carroll adds about 5% more possession in our favor in most games.

Starting lineup against Tottenham for me should be our strongest 11. We're Liverpool at home against a depleted Tottenham side and all we can think about is Bale hurting us ? Fck that. Gallas and Huddlestone are both out while all of King, Lennon, Van Der Vaart, Defoe, and Adebayor are major doubts. We should be taking the game to them and not the other way around.

My inital post wasn't in anyway intended to be anything smart :censored: - it was a confusing statement from Thommo and just wanted a bit of clarification- certainly wasn't any intention to wum as you stated in your first post.

I was confused by the "same team" part which as Ace stated is hard to tell with our line ups and it was the same team part which prompted my confusion on Gerrard and Suarez ?

Misunderstanding all round I'm guessing then.

Hence why the question was asked in the first place !

It's not rocket science is it.

No it's not which is why it's so baffling that you can't comprehend that "more or less" implies variance, i.e it will by definition not be exactly the same team and of course Suarez plays and if fit so does Gerrard, that it just bloody obvious. You really need to stop being such a pedantic illogical pain in the :censored:.

Did your manc mates tell you to say that !

I think it's too hard for your brain matter so will leave you to your ramblings.

manc mates, who would they be then?

You like to insult people don't you Benny, why is that?
Tell us what's wrong Benny, I'm sure we'd all like to help, because you must know how popular you are on this forum. :p

Anyway please explain how more or less is the same as no changes, I still don't quite understand that and it seems no one else does either so please please educate us, without further childish insults if possible.

Igor, that looks like a good formation. I think we need to have as many men as possible in the midfield to make sure we have decent possession, which is why I think I would like Kuyt to perhaps replace Bellamy and start Bellamy in stead of Carroll. I'm not sure if either Bellamy or Suarez can consistently provide   strength to that midfield.
