Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Almost all of what Stu says generally is sensible, and this well thought-out offering is no exception. I might differ by half a point here and there but in the main I can't really argue. On the question of recommendations, Ashton is an interesting one. The World and his brother had a look before Norwich went in with the 3 million, and a little like the widely touted Cahill, he left them all wishing they had had the balls to do it themselves. He almost kept Norwich up on his own and will surely go somewhere in the Prem. I certainly wouldn't be gutted if we got him but feel he probably suits a team who play a little more direct than us, (Everton maybe?).
Whatever, given the fact that if anybody had had the temerity to even suggest signing him 6 months ago they would have been slaughtered, it's nice to see his progress has been noticed. I know I repeat myself but there are gems to be had if you look, study and have the nuts to take a punt. Early evidence suggest that Spurs might just have found one in Dawson at 3 million. Everyone looked at him also, (especially us by all accounts) but they went in and got him. It doesn't work everytime but you don't have to play for a foreign team to be a good player.

I think you need to relax. He is talking about football, and he's not bad at it. If you disagree with his opinion you'll get nowhere unless you can be mature and keep the insults out of it.

Tetchy....tetchy......tetchy......

I think what Stu was trying to state was that SG did not perform to his potential.  He missed the mark this season.  To give him an 8 this season, would mean having to give him at least 11 last season.  And since this is a "Out of 10" rating, he can't get an 8.

Neway, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I think we'll see much more class from Morientes next season and I don't think that Benitez will let him leave after going through all the trouble to sign him. He's had problems with fitness[mostly because he was sitting on Madrid's bench] and he's played in games where the rest of the team including the midfield has looked poor. Basically what I'm saying had he come from the start of the season we wouldn't have this conversation, unfourtanetly he came here in the worser part of the season in my opinion and thats when he's played poor.

Agreed AB, he didn't get the type of service from the midfield, that he thrives on.

The lads got undoubted class.

But he hasn't produced so far. His only GOOD game was against United on his debuet and Charlton away where he scored one of the goals of the season.

He'll come good if he sticks around. Hopefully he will do.

Stu's assessment of Gerrard is spot on. It's not about whether he's been any good or not, overall he's been good but his attitude has been dispicable for much of the season and this has manifested itself in some very average performances.

This is unforgivable from a player who is so clearly capable of becoming truly world class.

Better players than Gerrard have left Anfield and we're still here. He needs to remember he plays for LFC and that's a privilege, not a chore.

Stu has his own unique way of airing his views and as soon as you realise that you get beyond the froth and realise he regularly has some good things to say.

His assessment of players is on the whole spot on and i admire his ability to pick out some English players such as Parker and Nolan instead of trotting out the usual suspects when talking of players who you would like to see at the club.

Sometimes with the big name players like Gerard and previously Owen some fans can't contemplate criticising them for fear that they wil lleave but as Wollyback has mentioned we have lost big players before and moved on as a club.....

Great read Stu. ave a couple issues but becasue i finished uni 2day im a bit p*ssed to say the least :D , so wont go into those right now as my post wuould end up being as long as yours :p .......But i agree with more than the majority of what u said, but laso agree with Joependo(spelling..sorri!!!) that Traore deserves a better mark nd at least another season and maybe move to CB as cover.......but he has improved a lot (burnley aside :(  ), and even that didnt affect him, many players would have crumbled after that, and thats probably due to Rafa when i think bout it......but i have to say (as if said before!!) he chose to stay and fight for a postion under rfaa, rahter than go across the park to Evers*it, which is testament to his commitment to!!!!!
