I came onto this thread and gave my opinion on Saviola, I did NOT swear at you or attack you personally. You then come on, slag me off for MY OPINION, attack me with personal insults like "fukface" etc.... and you wonder why you get a pugnacious response.

I have argued my points in a perfectly reasonable manner, you on the contrary went off into a torrent of abuse, and you don't see this! Read over this thread again.

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with fans from different countries supporting Liverpool, the more the better.


But you come on here and pontificate, then slag people off for their opinions. You are slagging off the people who attend games at Anfield regularly, who know what it means to be a Liverpool fan, I suggest you visit Liverpool and go to Anfield before you start pontificating and then slagging people off. I don't have divided loyalties, I support Liverpool and only Liverpool. You on the other hand support Real Madrid aswell, I don't have so much of a problem with that, but don't come on a Liverpool forum and start slagging off the fans who attend the matches, who make the club what it is. I would contend that I am a better Liverpool "supporter" than you given that I go to games regularly, if that isn't a measure of my supprt then I don't know what is. Paying money through the turnstiles, watching matches in the flesh, and speaking to other fans gives me more of an insight into the club than you - so please don't harp on about how you "support" the club as much as me. I consider a Liverpool fan who supports Liverpool and only Liverpool a real Liverpool fan, Sabre supports R. Sociedad because they are his local team but he also has an affection for Liverpool because of connections that have existed since Aldo's days there, nonetheless I would contend that I support Liverpool moreso than he does given I go to matches.



Likewise, when we are debating the merits of a player from Spain for example, I would contend that Sabre has a better insight into the abilities of that player than I do. And in this case, Barca Murph, as he supports Barcelona.

That is not to say we can't have opinions on these players, it just means they have a better insight into it with which to form a more reliable judgement.

I agree with Sabre...he is a similar player to bellamy in size and pace wise but he's far more skillful and more dangerous than bellamy...for that I will take him...simple as that...but i don't know about his wage demands...i do know they pay alot of wages over in spain...so i'm not sure liverpool will want to pay that much...and also I haven't seen him recently enough and I've actually already forgotten about him...

Far too inconsisent wherever he has been and I would liken him to Juan Pablo Angel at Villa who had one good season in about 6 years.

Also, we need out and out strikers who'll guarantee you goals, not "second strikers" in the Garcia mould.

If Liverpool want to claim the Premiership prize IMO you need a 20 goal a season striker, and Saviola isn't the man to do that IMO.

But I don't see him as the answer to all our upfront problems, I don't see him as the panacea of strikers. I just think that in strikers, we have different roles, Crouch provides something very few players have, will provide lots of second balls to the team mates, and he's very difficult to mark.

Kuyt has done a good first season, he has the strenght and I have no doubts he'll score more next year.

THEN to replace Fowler, I'd bring a name that deserves to be compared to Fowler, a big name, a Eto'o, a Villa, a Henry, one of those very difficult to sign up.

And to replace Bellamy, if needed (not that I'm unhappy with him), I'd bring Saviola. That would me IMHO to improve the squad up front. Or if it's not Saviola I'd bring Nihat, who's also pacy. Or Owen. I think there are better players than Bellamy in the market, quite a lot of them . That doesn't mean I don't like Bellamy.

* I have never liked Saviola, ever since he scored the bull/s\h/i/t handball goal against us a few years ago in the group stages of the CL. Seems to be a very shifty player, can see him going to ground a lot.

* He is the ultimate "fortune-hunter" and would not fit in at all at our great club.

* He has never played in the EPL and seems suited to the continental game due to his build and the way he playes.

PROS

* I think he would be another "Luis Garcia" type player but with better skills.

* He is on a free, dont think there would be better players on the market ATM who are on a free.

* Would probably get on well with Monster Mash.

I forgot to comment a couple of things about this, LFC2007. I agree the first quoted paragraph. You support more Liverpool for that obvious reasons. There's not discussion about that.

Needless to say, You're also in a better position to understand the atmosphere surrounding a club, because of the language barrier I have, distance, and you being a LFC fan all your life.

As for the point of having a better insight if you go to the stadium, yes, aswell, in a stadium you pick a lot of details in the TV you cannot. I also agree that.

But it's not gold everything that shines. Meaning, many supporters of my local stadium, have that insight, but they know fúck all about football, and accordingly,their input in a forum football-wise is rubbish.

Meaning, TV viewers also can add a couple of points about players, because they know their football and they've seen lots of matches. A massive example of this is Bad Bob. There's an ocean from Anfield to Canada, yet, in his football analysis he's reached IMHO a depth that goes beyond the one that you as a supporter has shown, so far in this forum. I'll see you in the threads of October discussing a rainy afternoon Sheffield away game and then I'll tell you how good poster you are.

So, I think match going supporters have to give indeed the insight of the details inside the stadium, I also think that kind of insight is a gem and a credit for the forum, but TV watchers have the right and their opinions ON A PLAYER shouldn't be bruised aside because of not going to the stadium.

I, for one, no matter how much you've seen Alonso in Anfield, know that player far better than you do . If you have me beside you in a stadium, I can predict what's he going to do next, where he's going to pass, and when he's determined to shoot from range. Know him since he was a teenager. Can you do that, at this point? If you do, congratulations.

I'd contend a few points there Sabre.

1) Of course people watching on TV can offer a valuable opinion on the performance of the team. Watching games at the stadium gives you an extra dimension that TV does not give you, that is, running off the ball and movement off the ball, you can judge the anticipation of players whilst not on the ball better, and other things such as the command of the defence - things you are not directly watching when a game is streamed on TV. To add to that you get a feel for the performance of the team, a feel for the way the game is going that you don't get on TV.

2)The CAPACITY to which you can form a judgement is greatly enhanced, how you form that judgement on those aspects I mentioned is more reliable for this reason. There will be those who can't offer much of an insight into off the ball movement who were watching the game but it enables a greater CAPACITY to form a judgement - that is essentially my point.


3) As for Bad Bob's opinions. As yet I have had little to comment on other than post season analysis, Athens and transfer gossip. In your opinion Sabre, you can believe anything you like. As a supporter however given I have been to watch games live this season, the DEPTH to which I can analyse our season as a SUPPORTER IMO is greater than Bad Bob.


4) As for Alonso, I'd contend that you know Alonso as an INDIVIDUAL better than I do. As a player who fits into the TEAM, I'd contend I have just as good an insight into how he fits into our midfield just as much as you do.

I agree the points one and two, as essentially my point was to say that TV watchers also have a contribution to make.

My view about Bad Bob, or Alonso were simple examples of contributions from outside England, 2 examples out of dozens and dozens of posters. So it was quite irrelevant. I made a comparison with you just as a little bit of footie bantering, wanted to see how you reacted.

At the end of the day, everyone poster decides what he likes to read and what he doesn't, so it's pointless to discuss what is more valid.

Point 3 is good news though, as that means I'll have the pleasure to read good footie analysis next season from you. Which is the important thing.

OMG what is happening around this place, I know Xabi better than you sounds like playground stuff, you guys are all to anal and pedantic and think you know better than anyone else, Sabre I find you quite arrogant at times, or maybe you dont intend to come across that way, but I suspect you do.
