If you remember Chelsea last year with Scolari, all over the place, brought in Hidink and with the same squad totally turned it around. This is what we need, a new direction with a coach that can get the player confident and motivated again.

It's not just a case of new direction. We need new personal also.

You seem to think that our squad and Chelseas are the same. Chelsea have had for a while a very strong squad in all areas. Can we say the same thing for ours? How many of our squad would even get in the Chelsea team?

We need better players and until that happens we won't improve no matter who is in charge.

Agreed, but is that down to Rafa, he built this squad, he is the reason that our subs were Aquaman, Ngog and degan.

What makes you think the squad will get any better if we keep going with Rafa

Because he can go to the owners in the summer and say "ok take a good look at how prioritising debt over bringing in quality players has affected the team this season".

The owners know full well this was always a risk in keeping that Alonso money back from him and now it has come back to bite them in the :censored:.

Well generally he spends well when he is allowed to go for his no 1 targets. Xabi, Masch, Pepe, Torres & Johnson. It's when he has to spend small to medium amount where he tends to make bad choices but im sure if he is allowed to get whoever he wants we would be ok.

I think that would be the same for any top manager but its the squad players that he struggles with and I cant see twit and tw@t giving him £50 or £60m to spend on whomever he wants, so can you see the situation improving.

I am really concerned that if things carry on like this we may noy make the top four and then the transfer budget would be virtually non existant

i think the question we should be asking is are Liverpool making any progress towards becoming a title winning team? Answer is no rafa always talked about progress and i think last year was the closest we are going to get to winning the prem look at all the money he has spent and the only players who proven to be good signings are torres n youssi we can all talk about alonso going but that aint our main problem rafa should have known we cannot rely on torres alone we needed another striker last january fair enough no one of good quality was available but in summer he should have got at least one top class striker like Villa or Eto and if not having money was the problem he should have got owen on a Free right now Liverpool's team is toothless and i'm sorry but houllier won more trophies yet he was sacked so why not rafa we aint won nothing since 06 for a club like Liverpool that aint good enough

He has been here five and a half years has spent loads of money, brought in  and sold so many players, left us mid table.

I lost faith in him years ago when most people here believed such views were treacherous. The team is going nowhere.

He should be sacked but I don't know how much money he would get (surely he wouldn't get paid for the whole 5 years)?

I think it would depend on who was interested in signing him. If its Madrid, I think we would get off cheap and it would probably only cost us about £5million, anyone else and he would probably hold out for more(£10million+). Houllier took us for EVERY PENNY, but hopefully Rafa would get better offers than Houllier did.

Don't think he would have to be paid the whole 5 yrs, there is bound to be some sort of results based clause. Bav's probably about right £10m
