Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar says it's Rafa Benitez and not the club's American owners who is responsible for the club's predicament.

Tom Hicks and George Gillett have been roundly criticised over Liverpool's Champions League failure this week.

But Grobbelaar told TalkSport: “People talk about the owners, get rid of the owners. What happens if they do get rid of the owners? Who’s going to take over? How do we know that we are going to get the money to buy the players?

"The man’s had 200 million to buy players and look what he’s got. You buy a player that has been on a treatment table. He’s not really fit but I want him anyway. It’s like going into a car showroom and saying, ‘I want that Bentley’ and the fella coming to you and saying, ‘well it’s got no engine’, it doesn’t matter, I’m going to take it anyway.”

Say's the c*nt that takes bungs and throws games. Oh, he got off with that, didn't he?

You should make your own mind up about Rafa and not take any notice to ex-players or media pundits who have won feck all as managers.

Thats what really winds me up about some of our fans they take what ex-players and Sky pundits say as the bible.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Poll done by BBC Merseyside

should Rafa Benitez be sacked

69% yes

this is a change from 33% 3 weeks ago.

I dont he will get the sack as there is not another manager about right now, the club will only have sammy in place for a few games and no more.

I think its down to what players are talking, I have seen some members on here use what old players are saying to back the manager, so if they can do that then you have to let the others use the old players to make their point that Rafa should go.

Also lakes there is alot of truth in what they are saying and I doubt as ex liverpool players they would say it for the fun of it they know the score.I think managers at liverpool use our good nature sometimes to shield them selfs from criticism and its not on and imo Rafa is a pro are using our history to shield his failings.

I think I would shoot my self in the head if Steve*Under my umbrella* MacLaren as you put it managed our club.

Ok maybe not but it would make me sick and never would support him.  :(

So?

But can he talk bollox? Just as well as me or the next man, certainly. Just because he did the old wobbly legs thing and helped win us Big Ears doesn't mean he's immune to being a w@nker, lakes. Dudek did the same. Is he a Liverpool legend too? Bruce was an iconic keeper for us; at times brilliant, and at other's dodgy as f*ck. He took bribes and threw matches while wearing a liver bird on his chest, yet he's still a hero? When I grow up, I want to be a hero like him too.

Alot of ex players have come out and spoken. They have an opinion like we do. So why slate them as individuals?
Just because you don't like what they say? This season we are :censored:, the manager is at fault for that. players bought players sold. Player bort whilst injured. God if we were top and still in champions league this topic would not be on here. But we are not. Our defence is a joke, our defending set pieces is a joke. Our squad depth is a joke.
Defend the manager, blame the yanks, blame injurys, keep rafa. Lets face it what i say and you say means nothing. I will still go to games at Doncaster,Scunthorpe and Preston in any old league. Just one thing i will say, this, we arnt a sacking club is laughable. In any business if you do not perform you are sacked. And if you do not sack the weak employess you do not succeed.
