I think the main evolution is in the supporters sense, particularly in that those who have lectured everyone else about being a "real fan" for years are now once and for all revealing their true colours. In that sense, this difficult start in terms of fixtures has not been a wastee as it has cleared that one up once and for all.

But we have got only the same number of points from our first five league matches as we got last season. Even though we've set a new club record by winning five from five in Europe, I think it would be churlish to pretend at this moment that we have made massive strides forward. The football looks very similar to what we saw last season, but I remain hoeful it will improve.

I think we need a revolution from the manager, not evolution.
Back to what made Liverpool great, and what made me follow the club from my early years up to now, almost 4 decades now. Bring back the passion Roy. The desire to win for the shirt, the fans, the history of the club...
YES, these prima donnas get paid too much....but this is different. This is the liverpool of many's a hard player who wanted to WIN ! to WIN ! to WIN !

Beating Rabotnicki and Trabzonspor in 2 qualifying games in the Europa league and a home win vs Steaua Bucarest is worth jack **** as it is the worst oppostion we have faced for years in Europe.

And yes, it is the same number of points as last season, the season Rafa according to you was an utter failure and shouldhave done so much better and challenged at the top of the table.

Now, with practically the same squad it is really ok, or even more than ok, with Roy at the helm to produce the same results and even worse performances....

As a unit its far to say we havent really moved forward at all but honestly its far too early surely. We have seen some improvements individually mind, Ngog for example has been much better and we have seen younger players like Kelly getting a run looking decent.I also feel we made some good signings with Cole and Meireles looking promising. Even now we are searching for the right formation because new players have arrived, are settling in and we need to evaluate the best way forward. Hodgson has had to come in and look at the whole set up, the staff both playing and off the field and to expect him to piece all that together and improve us dramatically after 5 league games is ridiculous. I wish we had 5 opening matches like Chelsea where we could have picked up more points but frankly the way the games came out was hard on us all things considered. Defeat against a rival is hard to take and when you glance the league table it looks bad but its doesnt represent us, no way at all, and we will be ok I am sure of it.

In the great battle against Manchester United was Agger changed into left back as there were 10 minutes left of the match.

Daniel Agger recognizes that the manager changed from Rafael Benitez to Roy Hodgson has certainly not been an advantage for the Danish defender.

- The style has been put on compared to less than Benitez, where we played the ball up from below. We do not now at all.

- Coach has a philosophy that we play football further up the pitch, and then we play a different kind of football at the back. It is not my style. It is not the type I are like football.

I'd be keen to get Newkit's opinion on our setup today vs United.

A few weeks ago we got destroyed by Man City, playing a 4-4-2 to their 4-5-1. We all waxed lyrical about how it's almost impossible to win the midfield in this situation and further about how Torres and Ngog couldn't play together upfront.

And yet today we played a 4-5-1 variant (4-2-3-1) to their 4-4-2 and we're comfortably second best. Why?

Furthermore, we looked much better when we switched to a 4-4-2 with, you've guessed it, Torres and Ngog playing alongside each other. Why?

Is it just that footballs more complex than any of us care to admit or how do you explain it?

Well, football isn't just about tactics but about skill and mentality.

We have neither compared to those 2 teams we faced.

City is on the up, great future(at least short term) and filled with quality players that sees good things for the club coming.

Manure has been top 2 the last 3-4 seasons, have a strong squad and strenghten now and then with 30 million players like Berbatov.

Where should our players take their belief in? Our great future...? Or the improvments to the team and club as a whole these next few years...?
If we know the club right now is ****** don't you think the players know?
And they are not robots who can just switch off that negative notion.

Agger and Skrtel are much of a muchness really, you could pick either and not see much difference. Personally I dont think either are commanding enough, they are good centre backs but not great. We could do with a really dominant centre half, a proper nutcase who sorts its all out and takes no messing. Garraghers still got something to offer and even now hes still the best centre back we have on the books despite advancing years.We have many things we could improve but right now its a patch up job overall and making the best of what weve got until the club sorts itself out.

Seems crisis runs deeper then just  lack of talent ,as clearly their are a lot more teams out there with less talent but who play to their strenght ,which are coached ,motivated and have a good sense of understanding what they are trying to achieve.

This team ,at this moment ,is lost ,leading players don't display leadership ,they are either frustrated depressed or plain stupid (AKA Torres ,Gerrard and Johnson) ,the rest are just panicking confused and lost. This is where a coach comes in and orgenize the ranks ,so fat with no success. I yet to understand what Cole/Yovanovic/Kuyt/Maxi are trying to achieve on the pitch , no idea why Skertel and Carra are our opening CB's ,no idea what Gerrad is doing or trying to do and Torres poor lonely torres wondering the plains with no chance on doing it by his own. Yes owners are total evil greedy fckers but the current team and coaching staff should and must do much much better. We are currently playing as basement level team.

I'm catching up after some hectic days here. I've read the comments.

A bad start of the season is something that can happen everywhere. And the  first fixtures haven't been easy.

It's far too early to sign off ANY manager, let alone an experienced one.

Far too early to analyse his work at Liverpool. And I'll keep that position during October and November most probably.

The thing is I have never written off Roy as I said long ago back in May/June that he was the best we could hope for.

What I also said and is still saying it won't matter who we have as manager(yea, that includes the special one) it will take almost a miracle getting into the top 4 as long as the situation is as it is at the club.

When a club stands still and shows no ambition off moving to another level you just don't stand still but it moves you backwards as the belief goes down.

How the **** do you think it feels mentally to have a great season finishing 2nd to have the team make a profit in the coming summer investing nothing?
It creates negativity around the club and dissapointment which means not just status quo.

You really think it was coincidence we won the CL, the FA cup and got to another Cl final the 1st 3 years under Rafa when he had 20 million/season to spend and then got jack all the next 3 seasons when he had to sell to buy?

In 4-5 years time we will look back to those 1st 3 years under Rafa with greater fondness when we reached the quarters of the CL practically every season and fought it out at the top of the table.

The point is Rafa is no miracle worker and neither is Roy.
But Lfc is right now in decline and the future is looking bleak which just engulfs the club in negativity.

New owners, new investments is vital not just to improve the squad skillwise but also to breathe new life and belief into the club.

HOnestly, if we start our proper 11 (not maxi no.), our team is really not that bad and therefore, i would have expected them to perform better than we have. But the problem is whether the manager put the best 11 on the pitch. This is where i question Roy's decision. Also, it seems Roy is not strong tactically. And obviously not able to motivate the players as this is also one of the critical responsibility of the mananger. The players just don't seems to be happy and not motivated at all. This worries me more as I think the talent is there and hope we can catch up. Otherwise, can't even imagine what will happened next season with all the star players....

I think there are some players in Liverpool that Roy need to see closely and ask himself that is these players can become better player or they only a good player but we have sell them because they can't improved to become a better player and sell them before their value "drop" even further   .... These are the players that I think it's about time to sell before their value "drop" even further ...
