Rooney to liverpool ? - Just heard some rumours

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Legend #9 » Tue Jul 06, 2004 12:12 pm

Could Wayne Rooney be coming to Liverpool.

Over the past 24 hours i've seen hundreds of rumours that say 'realible source says that Rooney to liverpool is a done deal for (£40-£45mil.)

I understand why Rooney would want to come to us:
1) Champions League
2)Steven Gerrard
3)Doesnt have to move houses
4) Playing 4 the Greatest Team in English History

But the fact that he plays for everton makes me doubt that we can pull this transfer off.

Below are some of the rumours i have seen on other websites:

cant see where all this rubbish about rooney going to man u is cumin from. i was speakin to his uncle and he said wayne has already secured a move to liverpool 4 £45 million. will join on 12th august

owen 2 stay at liverpool with rooney going there 2

Liverpool will confirm the signings of Ballack,Baraja,Ayala,Canizares, edgar davids, and wayne rooney in a fortnight.

Rooney 2 lpool 4 40 million and maniche 2 man u. lpool planning a clear out with diouf, diao, hamann, biscan, smicer, dudek, murphy, henchoz, finnan and risse all heading out of anfield.

Rooney to liverpool for 40 million. and abel xavier back to premiership in a shock move to charlton.

Rooney to liverpool 4 40 million and biscan :D .  van der vaart will go 2 man utd and maniche will go to chelsea.

ROONEY 2 LPOOL 4 40 MILLION AS HE WANTS TO STAY AT HOME. BISCAN, SMICER, DIOUF AN DIAO ALL BEING SOLD TO GET FUNDS TOGETHER. CHEYROU WILL MAKE LOAN MOVE 2 MARSEILLE PERMANENT IN NEW YEAR TRANSFER WINDOW

I'd rather Benitez bought a couple of decent midfielders and defenders that blow £40 mill on a player who has yet to score 20 goals in a premiership season..

P.S. If Rooney ever did join Liverpool I wonder what he'd do with his "once a blue always a blue" vest.

Why not ?

Figo moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid.
Rangers signed a catholic (Mo Johnston)

It's got nothing to do with what club he's coming from. We've had ex blues before. It's more about the the price. No matter how good you may or may not think he is , he's definitely not worth the "silly" money thats being talked about.  :)

We had the kid already and he refused to take off his Everton shirt at his trials. I suspect he will follow Stevie G's line and stay for at least another season unless of course the Everton board decide to sell. There is in reality only one team who can afford him now with Chelsea supposedly out of the bidding if the scum want him they will have to sell the horse first and I personally havnt a problem with that. In fact I will bet that Smith and Rooney would pick up more yellows than goals if they played together. Next season is massive for Rooney now and he is gonna be a marked man. £40 mil spread around our team will make us genuine title contenders but I fear we will not have that sort of money without investment. Please come back with an offer Mr Morgan. Pretty please with cherries on top Mr Houllier has gone now there is nowt to argue over anymore.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

This would never happen, not just the moving across Stanley Park issue but Liverpool couldn't afford to spend £50m on a single player as £50m would get us 3 class players like Ayala, Baraja and Aimar.

Personally I'd prefer 3 world class players rather than a fat, ugly, overated bluenose!  :p
