Ronaldo - The real one

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mikopool » Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:55 pm

Okay, so this may be an over exaggeration and it may be because of my frustration with our current strike force, but would Ronaldo be a possibility in the summer? Ronaldo recently stated according to soccernet.com that he is unhappy at real madrid and will make a decision of whether or not to stay this summer, and it looks like he is on his way out. He has made it clear that it has to do with the fans and their lack of support for him. I figure with Rafas knowledge of the spanish game and at least one of our strikers on the way out this summer and with the fact that we have the best fans in the world... is it possible? I think he would be a fantastic fit and with his skill latching on to balls mixed with Gerrard, Kewell, and Alonso with no one to pass to these days, we could be lethal!

Here is the article if anyone is interested.

Ronaldo drops bombshell on Real

Benítez would never sign him precisely for the reasons he is not "loved" in Madrid.

Great goalscorer, but a lazy git who doesn't give anything else to the team (though that may sound silly)

For Benítez, just goals wouldn't be enough, he would require a striker that gives more to the team than just goals.

Benítez would never tolerate a player that just stands there waiting for the perfect through ball, and Ronaldo doesnt do much else other than stand there like he is waiting for a bus.

Ronaldo is still a world class striker and better than most of our strike force. He has always said he wishes to play in England aswell.

Yes he does.

He celebrates goals with other Brazilian mates ignoring the not Brazilians, he says stupid things to the press on regular basis and earns a couple of extra weight from time to time.

No. He's not a red hearted player.

I saw the article earlier today and I too first imagined him coming here. But if yo think about it, he is 30 years old now so if he came here, he would only have 3/4 years left in him and at what price? 20 mil?

Even if we did want to buy him I don't think a move to Liverpool would suit him. Brazillian players usually don't perform to their full potential in the EPL, maybe becuase they aren't used to the pace of it or something. Anyway, I am sure the other big clubs will be interested in signing him as well such as Juventus, Chelsea, Milan......all clubs which can offer him more money and would be a more inviting prospect for him. Don't ask me why, but the real big guns don't often transfer to clubs such as Liverpool and Porto even if they are European Champions.

He's quality all over, a deadly finisher with pace is what he really is. Even a fat lazy cu*t like him surely would be inspired to play for such a great team. I really think he would be brilliant in the premiership, but surely will probably end up going back to italy.

The only team where he was truley loved by the fans was at PSV and at Barcelona. I remember one match he was playing for Inter, i think they played poorley and lost and all the players had to be escortd of the pitch due to missiles being thrown as well as his car being attatked on he way out.

Thats the problem with such big teams liek Madrid and Inter. The fans are so used to seeing big names come in and out every year that they dont bond with he players the waw we do when we see our players go through rough and good times. Therfore when they are winning the fans are happy but when they are losing they just turn on the players. In Italy Inter have this problem, in Spain Madrid also have this problem. This country has never had that problem but now with the emergence of Chelsea I think after a few years you will see there fans grow restless at the first signs of bad luck.

It's true.

He's a great goalscorer, and gives only goals.

Other strikers such as Shevchenko and Nistlerooy for example are always extremely active throughout a match, give assists and contribute so much more to their respective teams than just goals.

Ronaldo is simply not the type of striker Benítez would go for.

DUH!! ???

Where did I say we have a striker better than RONALDO??

I simply stated why Benítez wouldn't sign him.

Ronaldo is still one of the worlds best.
