Sabre i can see you there mate, anything about David Villa joining Liverpool in the media over in Spain. It was in one of our Sunday newspapers here......

No. Not so far, and it's unlikely. Rafa likes him that's for sure, everybody does. And to think we were about to sign him up when he was in Sporting GIjon  . But now Valencia has paid 12M € por him 7-8M quid, and he's doing a great season. After the WC he's value is going to be even higher. So I don't see it happening with the current policy of not big money deals.

I'd love him here. Finishing, determination and good skill. Class.

Id like to say yes to him but i think he may struggle the same way like Morientes does. The only Spanish striker that i think could play for us would be Fernando Torres. But i dont think we can afford him .     :no

Even if we wanted him, he wouldn't come, and if he was willing to come, he'd cost too much.

And we don't want him. He makes Anelka look like a team-spirit coach. Man U can have him. A quid says Freddy Shepherd puts a bid in.

The only team where he was truley loved by the fans was at PSV and at Barcelona. I remember one match he was playing for Inter, i think they played poorley and lost and all the players had to be escortd of the pitch due to missiles being thrown as well as his car being attatked on he way out.

Thats the problem with such big teams liek Madrid and Inter. The fans are so used to seeing big names come in and out every year that they dont bond with he players the waw we do when we see our players go through rough and good times. Therfore when they are winning the fans are happy but when they are losing they just turn on the players. In Italy Inter have this problem, in Spain Madrid also have this problem. This country has never had that problem but now with the emergence of Chelsea I think after a few years you will see there fans grow restless at the first signs of bad luck.

in inter ronaldo was loved very much. infact thanks to him, inter won UEFA cup and arrived second in campionship. But the accident kept him out for two years, and then the world cup of 2002 he left inter for real madrid, showing a great ingratitude to moratti and all fans of inter. Now he is hated from all italian fans of soccer!

I think it was the death threat before he decided for madrid that swayed his desicion. Who wants to play for a club whos fans wthrow coins at you and try to smas your car as you and your wife and baby are in it. Inter fans are foolish!!!! and they reiteratd that last year when they caused a halt in thet Euro match with AC Milan, with some stupid Inter fan throwing a missle that his Dida. They guy is luck to still have his full eyesight.

Villa's strenght is higher than Morientes'. 8 out of 10 Spaniards would preffer Villa rather than Torres in the WC starting eleven, 1 out of 10 is Atletico supporter, and the other 1 out of 10 are girlies in love of Torres. :)

Great goalscorer, but a lazy git who doesn't give anything else to the team (though that may sound silly)

For Benítez, just goals wouldn't be enough, he would require a striker that gives more to the team than just goals.

Benítez would never tolerate a player that just stands there waiting for the perfect through ball, and Ronaldo doesnt do much else other than stand there like he is waiting for a bus.

Yes ur right, it does sound silly if not worse...esp considering Ron has been highest scorer in Spain for every season he has been there save the last 1 or 2. And in the current, had 9 goals from 8 games b/4 injury set in...
I saw a recent Madrid game, where Ron provided 4 first class assists to his team-mates, just like he does these days for Brazil and will do in the summer...
Some say he is over-weight, overpaid fat slob; yet he ghosts past defenders as if they are not there!
Yep, it does sound silly....

Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

maybe you dont know the very story of ronaldo in italy. If ronaldo play today is thanks to the doctor of inter. Infact he was treated for a year. than he returned to play in tha match with lazio, but after seven minutes ha was again injured.

he was treated again one year, and so he could play the world cup.
But finished the world cup, he run away from Milan to Madrid.

Yeah, but what about the stats for the last eight years?

Ian Rush scored a f*ckload of goals for us in the 80s and 90s, but that doesn't mean he'd make a good signing.

He is definitely still one of the worlds best strikers.

Even though he's put on excess weight in the last few years he still has fantastic speed, though you wouldnt believe it looking at him.

i was in the process of writing a post about how those are old stats and how they dont mean anything, and how its the current stats that matter. then i had a look:

02-03 Real Madrid  23 Goals, 31 Games  6 Goals, 11 Games (Champions League)
03-04 Real Madrid  24 Goals, 32 Games  4 Goals, 9 Games (Champions League)
04-05 Real Madrid  21 Goals, 34 Games  3 Goals, 10 Games (Champions League)
05-06 Real Madrid  10 Goals, 16 Games  (-)

Bloody hell, not bad for a fat basta*d
