He's playing under Rafa now, he's playing for his boyhood club, he's a red through and through. He wont want to mess this chance up because he knows deep inside... next stop Portsmouth.
Or Newcastle , think they've had more ex Liverpool players than any other (?).
Where's Owzat when you need him
City have had quite a few ex-reds too, but they usually get them when they move on from another club after us, rather than off us.
Fowler- Leeds
Mcmanaman -Real Madrid
Anelka - Psg
Hamann- Bolton
Which is why it wouldn't surprise me to see Owen or Cisse playing for City next year.
Wasn't limiting it to direct transfer Saint, or even in what capacity.
Certainly Man City in recent seasons seemed to become the "rest home" for ex LFC players, but Newcastle also had their fair share. Keegan, Souness, Venison ,Owen and Beardsley spring to mind. Beardsley btw also played a handful of games on loan to Man City.
Maybe he was weighing up his final retirement options.
Anyways , I've pm'd Owzat. Don't say you weren't warned.

Barnes and Rush where at Newcastle too Woof, with Dalglish another of their managers and McDermott as both a coach and a player they seem to be the retirement home of choice for LFC players

I would think spudz must be a contender although I suspect Newcastle are hot favourites
Rosenthal (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Murphy (Liverpool - Tottenham via Charlton)
Ziege (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Leonhardsen (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Scales (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Redknapp (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Walsh (Liverpool - Tottenham)
Clemence (Liverpool - Tottenham)
I may at some stage compile a database of our (ex)players, it's not something I can be arsed to at the moment as it would have limited use. Funny I should be mentioning spudz again so soon, hope that doesn't mean this thread gets moved as well
A few spring to mind the other way : Paul Stewart, three times club player of the year Robbie Keane (of course), Nick Barmby (via a few teams), Peter Crouch (via a lot of teams), Neil Ruddock
As for Newcastle/City, I'd say Newcastle have had a few as have citeh. Perhaps the best way is to look down this page http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/past_players/ and then wikipedia any you're not sure of
Fowler (Liverpool - Man City via Leeds)
Anelka (Liverpool loan - Man City)
McManaman (Liverpool - Man City via Real)
Hamann (Liverpool - Man City)
Beardsley (Liverpool - Man City loan via other clubs)
Clough (Liverpool - Man City)
David Johnson (Liverpool - Man City via bittersville)
Beardsley (Liverpool - Newcastle via bittersville)
Barnes (Liverpool - Newcastle)
Rush (Liverpool - Newcastle via Leeds)
Guthrie (Liverpool - Newcastle)
Venison (Liverpool - Newcastle)
Keegan (Liverpool - Newcastle via other clubs)
Hooper (Liverpool - Newcastle)
Owen (Liverpool - Newcastle via Real)
McDermott (Liverpool - Newcastle)
Souness was manager for Newcastle, never player according to wikipedia. Keegan managed both Newcastle and Man City, the former twice (how mad do you need to be to go back for more?) Pompey have had a few of our ex-players, Djimi "Eeyore" Traore, Berger, Baros (loan?), James, Lawler, Redknapp (?), Vignal, Crouch so they must be up there too! And Bolton, quite a few have ended up there including Roger Hunt, Anelka, Guthrie (loan), Diouf, Phil Neal, Hamann (nearly)
Plus of course Leeds and possibly villa who've had James, Staunton, Baros, Carson (loan), Collymore, Berger and now Friedel just off the top of my head
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
