Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Wed Jul 14, 2004 1:46 pm

A hell of a lot of people on here seem to have a bit of a problem with Rick Parry over the past few weeks, such as having a pop because we've only signed Cisse so far, and criticising him for having the temerity to have a holiday, etc.....but why? I would personally like to take this chance to stand up for him.

He does a good job in my opinion. He obviously has the best interests of the club at heart, and isn't afraid of making decisions, no matter how hard they are.

Im struggling to think of an occasion when he has let us down. Anyone? I know its not everyone, but I'm just trying to understand where this anti-RP sentiment comes from...

I couldn't believe the stick he was getting when he went on holidays a few weeks ago. People panicking, wanting things to be done immediately. Didn't we get Rafa as manager and there didn't seem to be any hassle either.

Parry is a highly paid individual and he knows what he's doing. If he had to come back from his family holiday, I'm sure he would have.

Plus, these contracts that footballers sign these days are extremely detailed with areas about sponsorship and image rights, about players getting in strops etc. Parry doesn't need to sit through all that cr@p, there's others there for that and lawyers to make sure everything is alright. There's other members on the Board as well.

We should count ourselves lucky we have such a good Chief Exec. After all, we could have had Publicity Pete!!!!

I'm off to Latvia on my holidays

I Must admit that i was a bit panicy when RP was on Holiday and we were still waiting for Rafa to sign!
But i had faith in RP doing the job and do it he did!
Some people seem a lil panicy now that Rafa isnt signing anyone!
I think its just a condition that football supporters have and Rp was a good place to put doubts at that time!
I personaly feel very assured in everything that LFC are doing at the moment and just cant wait now for the season to begin

I absolutely want the man to succeed.

Let's face it, the Parry has proved he's got balls.  It probably ate him up inside knowing he was going to have to sack Gerard Houllier, but he showed how big his balls were when he had to, and the club came first.

I trust Liverpool FC in the guy's hands.  There's never been any "Chairman Out" campaign's against him unlike a lot of lesser clubs.  He's running a tight ship.  I don't know how long we can say "No" to Morgans money though.  That's where David Moores enters the argument.

Parry said that if you plan for mediocrity you will never win anything so therefore lets hope he backs the manager and gives him all the funds he possibly can.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

There's definitely a fresh optimism around the club at the moment.

I don't know why, but I can feel it!! :D  :D  :D

Rick parry does a good job for LFC,I just think he needs to tell david moores to invest more money into the club, our defence and midfield definitely needs strengthening,if he doesnt we will struggle to get top four.

Morgan will have to improve his offer though because it drastically undervalued the worth of the club.  Also, under the terms of Morgan's offer, Moores would have to invest alot of cash to keep his majority shareholding.

I know the Houllier issue isnt there any more, but in terms of cash, are the 2 sides too far apart to agree?

rick parry like every other member of the board should start realising that past mistakes have driven this great club to near breaking point, we as a club can not keep on making the same mistakes. rick parry must take his share of the blame. managers come and go.parry your time is up goodbye.:p :p :p

I wouldnt blame Parry for lack of signings, its up to Rafa to spot the right players and then go to the board and say..I want such a player, give us the cheque book.

Parry wants to win im sure.

As much as i like Rick Parry i cant help feeling that he made a total idiot of himself over the deal with the Thai PM. Why he shook on a deal in front of the camera's then be told we will go find the money now must be still lingering in his mind?

I'm sure there will be some movements into the transfer market in the next couple of weeks.

Yes I think the Morgan/Thai deals were handled very badly but that apart I like the man and feel he does a great job behind the scenes.

People criticise Parry but he usually comes through in the end.
He secured our manager.
He secured the place of Gerrard.
He'll allow some new signings, just be patient.

Now that Houllier has gone I suspect fans have replaced him with Parry as the fall guy. Some fans treat football like a pantiomine , got to have that bad guy to blame it all on when things dopn't happen the way we think it should ....???
