Reviving the advanced debate forum

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby SouthCoastShankly » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:28 pm

I am proposing reviving this unused area of the forum. But there needs to be a renovation.

Currently you only need 100 posts to apply for the advanced debate forum. This hardly restricts someone who is intent on getting access. I am proposing moving this limit to 1500 posts.

I enjoying having good footballing conversation but recently the forum is being crowded out by newbies making controversial statements to stand out, flame wars ensue and the conversation is lost.

I think 1500 posts is enough proof to see whether a poster is here to wind up or make decent conversation.

Thoughts?

I just thought it would be a good method of filtering out a lot of noise on the threads created by nonsense posts by newcomers looking to make a name for the themselves.

I disagree. A lot of the arguments have come from long term members bearing grudges. The problem isnt the newcomers, its the stuck in the ways older members.

I dont see how encouraging people to spout over 20,000 posts of drivel encourage advance debate !  :D

Good idea... but it should also be the mods decision as well, looking at the quality and tactfulness of the members previous posts...

Never liked the idea of an elitist section in the forum and after going on eight years in here I'm still hard pressed to define what exactly constitutes "Advanced Debate"

If anything given the contibutions I've read over the years (mine included) I'm embarrased that we're so far up ourselves that we have the cheek to include such a section .

This whole section is a waste of time as evidenced by the fact no one has used it for 12 months. Get rid.

I prefer the new advanced section we have, the one that can only be seen by certain people, much easier to post there

This was/is the reason this forum was created, if the consensus is that we need to increase post level to qualify this can be done.
