Villareal V Liverpool - Europa League Semi Final 1st leg - Thursday 28th April

Mignolet - 6 - had a save to make and made it
Clyne -5 - good running but final ball is embarrassing
Toure - 7 - solid
Lovren - 6 - few dodgy moments but did well
Moreno -4 - missed a sitter and once again the goal came down the left side. Needs to imrove drastically
Lucas - 5 - no ***** ups, which is good
Allen - 6 - needs to be stronge, and put easy chances away
Milner - 5 - bad delivery let him down again
Coutinho - 3- needed to go off
Firmino - 4 - some good interplay, but no end result, again
Lallana - 5 - better as impact sub, not cut out for full 90 minutes. Sometimes too fussy, weak and feeble

Ibe -3- If he cant flourish under Klopp then he needs to leave asap. Seems to have gone backwards
Bentekke -2- hasnt got it, needs to move on

Swansea 3-1 Liverpool - EPL - Sunday May 1st

Ward - 7 - not at fault for any of the goals, stopped a few more going in too
Clyne - 6 - was ok
Skrtel - 4 - bye Martin, thanks for the memories
Lovren - 5 - poor game by his standards today, should have done better for their first goal
Smith - 5 - inexperience showed today with 3 quite rash challenges ending up in a red
Stewart - 6.5 - better of the CM's, did ok
Chirivella - 4 - looked well out of place today, very light eight
Ibe - 3 - pi$$ poor
Ojo - 6.5 - looked decent again, corner taking was good, pace electric, nice ball for Benteke's goal
Coutinho - 5 - nothing today
Sturridge - 2 - trust me, I am being generous

Subs...

Benteke - 6 - didn't get much of the ball but did stick the ball in the net
Lucas - 5 - another one to thank for their service, thanks for the memories
Brannagan - n/a - not enough time

VILLARREAL V LIVERPOOL

MINGOLET - 8 kept us in the tie with a great save at 0-0, if they'd have beaten us 2-0 we'd be out IMO
CLYNE - 7 decent performance against a tricky customer in Suarez
TOURE - 7.5 played superbly until the last 5 minutes
LOVREN - 7 solid enough
MORENO - 6.5 played well but went AWOL twice in the last 5 minutes
LUCAS - 7 played well
ALLEN - 7.5 Joe was everywhere, terrific performance, should have scored though
MILNER - 6 worked hard but distribution/crossing was a bit erratic
COUTINHO - 6 wasn't well and it showed
LALLANA - 6 looked a bit lightweight and ineffectual
FIRMINO - 6 did okay, won the ball back high up the pitch a few times but still not back to his pre-injury best

SWANSEA V LIVERPOOL

WARD - 7 did okay although maybe he could have come out to claim the cross for their first
CLYNE - 7 one of our better performers on the day
SKRTEL - 5.5 to be fair he hasn't played much and is a bit rusty but goes to ground way too easily, needs to stay on his feet
LOVREN - 6 probably his worst performance in months, I know the wet surface didn't help but his passing continually put us in trouble
SMITH - 5 this lad has potential but ATM he's a walking red card, could have went for a knee high challenge in the first half when he dived in with his studs showing, if he'd mistimed that he would have been gone.
CHIVRELLA - 4 looks a class act in the making but out of his depth in this game, he'll learn from the experience though
STEWART - 5 worked hard but part of a midfield pairing that was completely dominated by Britton and Cork
IBE - 4.5 his career has stalled ATM, he's been overtaken by Ojo in the pecking order IMO
OJO - 6.5 looked the best of our attacking players, when Coutinho and Sturridge are in the line up that's no mean feat
COUTINHO - 6 wasn't helped by our midfield getting their @rses handed to them
STURRIDGE - 5 one of two flashes of skill but struggled to get into the game, virtually no supply though

Newkit player of the month APRIL

Games:

Tottenham (H)
Borussia Dormund (EL) (A)
Stoke (H)
Borussia Dortmund (EL) (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Everton (H)
Newcastle (H)
Villarreal (EL) (A)

Candidate:                        Rating:                   Games played:

Simon Mignolet                      7.2                         7
Dejan Lovren                         7.9                         6
Joe Allen                               7.5                         8(started 4)
James Milner                          7.1                        7
Divock Origi                           7.7                         6(started 3)

And the winner is..........    DEJAN LOVREN….  Everyone probably expected Origi to win it this month (who will probably get the official award), but seeing Lovren as this month’s winner came as no surprise to me at all. Lovren has considerably raised his level under Klopp, and the form our defence is at the moment has a lot to do with Lovren's form as well. From a man with no future with this club to one of the first names on the team sheet, well done Dejan.
