the thread is not about rafa, and swine flu is not even in asia so i dont know how you say it started here, we had sars and bird flu, swine flu though is totally different and the first case was in mexico.

So the end of the season draws ever closer, and barring a collapse from the mancs we are about to end our third season on the trot without a trophy, added to the indignity that the mancs (if they don't collapse) will draw level on 18 trophies.

We have seen improvement this season, we have also seen too many draws this season (again), we have seen amazing performances, we have seen some of the most dire performances I have seen the reds involved in, we have seen we have the ability to challenge when we actually play football as it should be played, we have seen competitors falter, we have seen us fail to take advantage by being too careful, we have seen us weaken our team for many games, we have seen some players are not good enough and we have seen some players that many believed were not good enough prove their worth, we have seen the beauty that is torres and the clogger that is dirk, we have seen boardroom battles played out in the press which should never happen. we have shown that having 5 30 million quid players does not give any guarantees so lets put that excuse to bed, we have seen a player used as a political pawn, we have seen one of the younger guys prove he is worth a place (Insua). We have seen our captain in court, we have seen delays on the new stadium, we have seen another excuse put to rest that the owners are to blame for poor football, if they are to blame for that then they now need credit for us being second etc etc etc

Thats about right Peewee. This is where this forum has failed. The discussion has been let down. The discussion doesnt exist, opinions do, but not discussion. Come the end of the season, I will insist that our failures against the poorer teams contributed to our failure, I will stand aside and let the "positive" members show there worth to this forum. We challenged, we come good in the end, we beat all the top teams. I'll sit back and read the end of season review. I, like many know better than to add disturbance to the harmony. Take your opener peewee, topic has changed from what you put, no arguments, so change the subject. Its sad but a fact. But i'll always be positive (that seems to work).

Im guessing from peewee's opening post is that throughout the season people were full of excuses?

I tend to agree; but I will admit I was gobsmacked by the win at Old Trafford and our form since.

Im not convinced we can get rid of the draws-at-home syndrome that we had this and last season.

I agree with Bob too about signings; we need to get players who will be 1st teamers.

Could this Summer be as crucial as the Summer of 2002 was for Houllier?

not that i want to carry this on, but it did start in asia and the reason its in mexico is because some farmers bought pork(pigs) from asia to save money and they brought the desease with them

I haven't answered to this thread because it's a bit early. The original post does include bad and good points about the team, but it's as if it's a season review thread, and I'd like to wait a bit longer to make a season review. That is, a mistake of Manchester United and this can be a great season. A great last games of Liverpool, and we can get a 2nd place 3 points off. A bliip in the last games and we can get a 3rd place, which after all the expectations this season would be dissapointing.

So a bit early to me to make season reviews.

It's true that some points remain true regardless the season hasn't ended. I have to agree 3 years without a trophy is concerning for a top club. And considering the advantage of Manchester that's likely to happen. Despite Rafa has a new contract, Rafa should break that drought of titles the next season. I've asked time for Rafa in the time to make the team grow, and he has achieved it IMHO. Now it's time to ask him results.

Anyhow, as I said, I would like to discuss a season review thread (not sure if that was Peewee's intention) a bit later.

It was en eventful season, which I'm enjoying. Next year is our year, not much to add really.

Nando was injured a lot, the same with Steven... On the bright side, it was another great year for Carragher! I thought Dirk delivered, too.

Next season we need more luck with injuries, a stable boardroom, and a world class striker to partner with Nando and we'll be fine.

check out his performances in imposing 2004-2006 and compare to this years 

I think it shows more that he was v. dependant on the relationship with Hypia...since Sami has been less regular, our defense has not looked the same.

I think a new GK is required, if not necessarily to replace Pepe immediately, to put pressure on him and possibly takeover within two seasons. Reina has been shaky of late and I believe that like Cech he needs a keeper breathing down his neck to get the best out of him - Dudek, Itandmoron, and Cavalieiri were never going to really challegne (to being with none were really givn the chance or had the personality to)

there is no swine flu in asia, the epicenter is in mexico hence all the deaths in mexico, there are no victims in asia and there are no reports of swine flu in asia, if it was here there would be victims, just as there were with sars and bird flu. I would be amazed if the only pigs with the disease were sent to mexico.

if you have proof to the contrary please steer me towards it

Maybe all the critism or praise or end of season reports should wait until the season is over - still lots to play for - like the prem title . even if we dont win it and end up second then it will still be a good season - not a great season but a good season . and if we dont win it the only reason why will be our results werent good enough when we needed them .

the thread title says the end is nigh, not the end is now, how about next season we have no threads and no posts until the season is over.

I pointed out a few thoughts about the season up to now, i never slated anyone, i made no excuses, i just pointed out a few facts and asked people to discuss, it has been an eventful season up to now on and off the pitch, and lo and behold the usual people start sniping and the thread goes away from what it should be to where it is now, did anyone actually read the opening post and understand it?

Again we see abuse rather than an attempt to counter the views in a post.

1. Who is to blame for the poor performances , The weakened line ups .

2.Most dire performances you have seen by liverpool ? did you watch us under souness or under gh when we were loosing left right and centre.

3. Fail to take advantage of situations ? could that been down to inexperience of leading the prem ?

4.5x30 Millions pound players - if they arent really needed how come the team with them is above us in the title ?

5.Boardroom battles ? has it effected us on the pitch ? is it more opinion than fact ?

6.Players not good enough ? who are these ? more opinion than fact once again ?

7.Pawn Player ? is there just a little chance that he was sold because he wasnt good enough for us and didnt produce the goods enough for us as opposed to a battle between people ? once again more opinion than fact .

8. where the majority of people blaming our poor performances on the owners ? ?

9.Dire performances worse than you have ever seen ? can you not remeber the time under souness when we were closer to the relegation battle or under gh when we lost 6 in a row and where 30 -40 points behind the leaders ?



Finally do you think it has been a good season or a bad season ? has this season reached your expectations and what were you expectations at the beginning of the season ?
