Look ahead.

For me, the fact that he is an ex-Anfield hero is part of the reason why he'd be such a shrewd signing. Last season the point was made that the fans just weren't getting up for games. Fowler running up and down the touchline warming up could be the best cheerleader the club would ever need. And not for too many pennies either.

Well, you say that, but we've got games coming up against Monaco and Olympiakos that may well mean the difference between us having that sort of money, or actually having next to nothing.

We can't just keep conjuring up tens of millions out of a hat. A lot of money was spent over summer, and I'm sure that the board didn't anticipate the biggest acquisition of the lot needing some kind of replacement 6 months on.

Jan Koller would be realistic. His club is in a major financial crisis, and they could be tempted to offload the big czech. He is a perfect fit for our smaller guys (Baros, Pongolle), he would score 5+ goals on set pieces alone and he can hold up the ball and take the heat of our midfielders and strikers. I think the premiership is a good arena for Koller, and we all know Baros and Koller can play really well together. I know he is not the youngest and most mobile player, but as a short term crisis replacement for our injured strikers, why not?

I think your suggestion is a reasoned one and short term might be an option............ Q ? Has he played CL And if not would he qualify to play for the reds should we progress ?

I'll stick my neck on the line here... if Fowler came back, he'd get back to his best and would be a fantastic signing.

I watched City the other day and he's the same ****** player playing in a balls side.

Give him an ounce of supply, a touch of encouragement and he'll get a sack full of goals. There was one the other day, he was put through and instead of trying to run with the ball he volleyed it from 20 yards with excellent technique. Typical Fowler. He's get better service playing for us and if you give Robbie service he'll score loads.

Robbie's the sort of play that if you give him an inch in the box he'll take a mile.

He's lost confidence. He's certainly regained his fitness. He'd also suit our style of play down to the ground. His strengths have always been scoring from crosses and possession football, well thats what we now play. He'd be infront of a supply line of Garcia, Alonso, Gerrard, Riise, Finnan, Kewell (maybe a good thing) and Nunez (same as Kewell). Look at the quality of balls into the box and possession we can keep around there box with these players.

Fowler would get back to his best, thats something i'm sure of.

For the first time EVER a decent suggestion.

What i can't understand is you actually liking a player without all important best thing since sliced bread pace.

The only problem there would be the foreigners Rule.

Dudek
Smicer
Baros
Biscan
Koller

Personally i'd rather see Angel if we went for a foreign national.

At least he'd be worth it long term.

Good to hear that you sometimes can agree with some of my views. I generally thought that you had made a sport in opposing my views just to get som debate and hot blood in this forum. When I say Koller I know he ain't the first and best solution, BUT we are not exactly in a position where we can be picky. Koller is much better than Mellor and Sinama, our only strikers at present. Dortmund is not in the CL as far as I know and we can use him as much as we like.

***WTF are you talking about? Foreigners rule?

Czech republic is now part of EU and any EU citizen are free to work, live and die in any other EU country. That rule only applies for non-EU players like the two £ 16 million senegalese pimps Diao and Diouf. And Fowler is not the solution Stu. Even if we sliced 15 pounds of fat of his belly he would not be good enough for our team.

nth can be comfirmed... dun be to sure and put your neck on the line... very unlikely signing ... RB wont wan someone we too much personal life.

Totally unrealistic targets.

1. Fowler. Overweight. Will be 30 next year. Not the man he once was.
2. Anelka. Skillful. But a law unto himself. Fell out with manager at Arsenal, Real, PSG and France. Notice a trend?
3. Koller. Big target man and a menacing prescence. However he will be 32 next year. We dun want Liverpool to turn into Blackburn where the combined age of their strikers is nearly 70 (Yorke and Cole during the previous season). Also too expensive to be a temp replacement.
4. Morientes. 29 next year. Not too old. Skillful and strong in the air. However we can never afford him (unless it's a loan move)

I say we stick with Pongolle and Mellor. After Baros return there will be 3 strikers to rotate around. We should spend the money to replace our wobbly fullbacks...lol

no-one's mentioned this yet - i don't think - but there is an exceptional striker coming back from injury in january to a team with plenty of strikers already. he's a proven scorer in league and europe and has been linked with a move to anfield before.

ole gunnar solskjaer anyone?
