i think you are slightly wrong, Rafa Benitez asked Steven Gerrard to sign a new contract 3 times last season and the player said "wait". Now u come hear and say that he has messed up the team ?? How can that be possible if the player himself wants to leave ??

For me Gerrard is a great player not a gem. He has been unloyal to the club and that shows that he is more interested in earning more money rather than playing for the club he supposed to have loved since he was a kid. His agent has also played a huge part in this, as i guess he wants to get a few millions.

I totally agree with LANDO when he quoted : "The Spaniards are more loyal than our English Captain".

Another fact u mentionned above is that u want and one or a few english players in the team. did you pay attention to the fact that an english player might turn out to be double or triple the price for a world class player of another nationality. Example: Andy Johnson and Peter Crouch cost more that world-class and proven striker Fernando Morientes.

Gerrard has shown less loyalty than Dudek, Biscan et al and he is a scouser ffs. You don't have to be English to be committed to this club, personally i'd take a Spaniard who wants to be here over a disloyal like Gerrard any day of the week.
