In fairness to Murphy they loved him at Charlton as he was their best player but whatever. On the case of Babel, it's all about opinions ans to be perfectly honest I don't necessarily agree with *** that he'll never make it. Having said that, i think to base your argument on the theory that it's too early to call it is daft. If he's proved wrong further down the track, then quote him and destroy him but you can't crticise him because he's come to an early judgement.

In fairness I think so far he's shown very little for the money we shelled out for him. The reason why I'm not yet prepared to give up on him though is you just get little fleeting glimpses of something with him. I can't put my finger on it but there appears to something there with him, just occasionally there is an instant control or a bit of vision. Whether it will manifest itself into anything reamins to be seen, but based on what I've seen sofar my only judgement would be it appears we have paid absolute Everest top dollar for him.

I wonder what his opinion on Torres is?

Is it a daft comment to say Torres is class after 7 games? Was it daft to say Alonso is class after his first 7 games?

What about Owen, Fowler, Gerrard, Hyypia... all players who after 7 games or so were fans favourates... was that daft to say they're class acts?

I'm curious as to how that wasn't daft (after you seen all their attributes) yet the same with Babel, because he's not upto it is daft...

To be quite honest, he looks an average premiership player... at best. He's not shown me anything so far that Sissy didn't in his time at Liverpool. Infact, he's shown less, thats the truth of the matter, whether some like it or not.

'm sure there were plenty of Arsenal fans that said the same thing of Henry in his first season. Like it or not, it is just your opinion on Babel. It is not a fact. So why antagonise and protest as if it were?

You're comparing a player who looks out of his depth against Derby and Birmingham, to one of the premierships greatest ever players...

What has the lad shown? Please? Can anyone give me any examples of anything outstanding the lad has done? Whats he done thats impressed?

Torres has missed chances, but scored great goals, a hatrick, stood upto people kicking him off the park and took the out of them, shown pace, touch, passing, movement, intelligence, quality.

What exactly has Babel shown apart from one shot against Chelsea which went a foot wide and a decent finish against Derby?

He looked out of his depth in the Derby and Birmingham games.

To say Voronin or Crouch are better than Kuyt is just stupid. The lads not a bad player, as I've already said, he's just not the answer. A good squad player, thats it.

Crouch and Voronin shouldn't be near a Liverpool squad. That is a joke.

well we all have our opinions mate, and in my opinion kuyt is not even a good squad player, i have said on here many times that he brings nothing to the table.

i can't be bothered with stats but i would love to see his minutes on the pitch in the league this season and the goals scored (the second part of that isn't hard to work out)     

but you do go on to say that he isnt the answer and i respect that, just a little less harsh than my opinion

Woeful player. Kuyt has a good alround game. But thats all he has. A good alround game, he's a decent finisher, but rarely gets into the positions to finish, he's awful in the air... What he does is create space for other people and puts alot of pressure on the oppositions defence and midfield, he's the only striker that brings something to the table that Torres doesn't, we need a better partner for Torres, I've said it for a while we needed two strikers, we've signed one of the two we needed, Torres is part of the answer... now we just need to go an sign the other part. Ashton, Anelka or even Robbie Keane would do nicely. Keane obviously being last choice of the three.

Crouch is a distinctly average premiership player who misses far to many chances to even be considered to play for this club. He has Zero mobility and his ability to win arial battles, play with his back to goal and bring others into play is more than matched by Torres.

Kuyt can actually finish, he can place a shot, he can put the ball past a decent keeper. His main problem is getting into the position in the first place. Arialy, he's awful, we can all see that. He's a joke in the air, but he's got good ability in terms of his intelligence, work rate, positional play, movement and awareness. What he lacks is a strikers instinct to beat players to the ball in the box and free himself up in the box, he also lacks the anticipation to read the flight of a ball.

I hear people slag Pennant's Crossing off, which is an absoloute joke. Had we had Robbie Fowler feeding off those crosses, Robbie, even now would be banging in 20 goals a season. Some of the crosses Pennant whips in often look like they're "to no-one" due to Kuyts (and the other fowards) lack of ability to go and attack crosses and get there before defenders aswell as reading the flight of the ball. The only time we score from crosses is when someone gets picked out, and only the best players in the world can pick players out after beating someone, an thats something Pennant isn't.

I remember Blackburn under dalglish. Two fairly average wingers in Ripley and Wilcox, both similar to Pennant, probably not even as good... but they used to beat their man, cross it and let Shearer and Sutton do the rest, which more often than not they did.

Nah I dont think so mate, he doesnt have composure infront of goal and like Cisse opts for power most of the time, I dont think he's that  good finnisher.

Now Rafa's, everyone, surprisingly, has Torres first.
So, he has to get a hat-trick before he can start a game, i don't think that's being the highest rated striker in the team?

I believe Torres has been an unused sub in just one game, starting the rest on pitch or bench. The problem for many of us is which games he's started, for me in particular the 'couldn't give a tors about' matches away in Porto and in the Carling Cup at the expense of starts in the 0-0s against brum and pompey

There's a growing assumption amongst fans that Torres playing automatically means he scores and we win. He obviously improves the team but he doesn't guarantee success. I don't think he was needed against Reading but how is the Champions League a worthless game?

Say we'd rested Torres against Porto and lost. We'd have to make up ground in the group. Surely it's better to guarantee qualification early so we can rest players for the 5th or 6th group games? If we'd still failed to beat Brum and Portsmouth with Torres in the team most people would moan that we should rotate the strikers to pick form players.

Basically, we didn't beat Portsmouth, Brum or Porto because the team as a whole played poorly. The Torres rotation seemsto be something for pundits and fans to focus on and blame. We're not a one man team and we should be beating these sides with or without Torres.

Our dip in form came after the international break and the losses of Alonso and Agger. Don't be surprised when our performances improve after they return.

Murphy consistently got 10 a season from midfield. He also consistently gained alot of assists as the weight of his final ball could be exceptional at times. He shown flashes of skill and intelligence. He also shown a lack of premiership fitness.

Murphy was by no means a bad player and for you to come out with a comment like "he wasn't good enough for Charlton" shows the knowledge (or lack of) you actually have on the subject.

OK I exaggerated on the Charlton bit cos spurs wouldn't of bought him otherwise but shorley if he never made the grade at spurs(with the poor midfield they have) it shows what an average type player he really is.

We will just have to agree to disagree over Ryan Babbel you may be well right in your opinion but for me you have to give a player a real chance and you keep on asking me tell you his "potenetial" and his "potential" is there in his pace and his touch, maybe he mighn't be good enough but i just like to see some players givin a real go, the only bit that didnt sit right with me in your initial statement you said quote

You may well come back and haunt me with this post and prove me wrong but to call someone a disgrace after a few games is a disgrace in its own right.
