REVEALED: Rafa Benitez chooses his ideal Liverpool FC 5-a-side team

Rafa Benitez has revealed the five players from his current squad that he would have in an LFC 5-a-side team. And, as is often the case with Rafa's team selections, you may be surprised at who is omitted from the starting line-up.

Members of Liverpool's ALL RED official membership scheme receive, amongst other things, an exclusive 'The Real Rafa Benitez' DVD, and it is on this DVD that Rafa makes his selections. He chose:

Pepe Reina
Fabio Aurelio
Javier Mascherano
Steven Gerrard
Yossi Benayoun

No room for Fernando Torres or Jamie Carragher? Carra I can understand, but surely you would want Torres in your 5-a-side team?

Yossi Benayoun may be in and out of the 11-a-side team but it looks like he would be a certain starter if the Premiership changed to 5-a-side ;-)

--------------------------------------------

I think mine would certainly be a little different  :D

                           Reina
          Johnson                      Mash

                          Gerrard

                           Torres

Makes sense really...............5 a-side is nothing like 11 a-side besides the obvious number difference

considering he's probably the best striker in the world at the moment, torres often has a surprisingly heavy touch   - perhaps that 's why rafa hasn't picked him as you can get shafted in 5 a side if you give away possession...

Brazilians play futsal from the age of 5, if Rafa says fabio, then I'll go along with that.

You dont play a formation in 5 a side, his team makes sence. You need players who can do it all.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

Reina

Johnson                                                      Agger

                                Gerrard

                                 Yossi

5 aside you need plays who can beat your man and yossi is the best man in our team for that , johnson and agger pretty much pick themselves , gerrard for that surge and long shots

he's got macher in there to generally run around like a nutcase and pressure the opposition into making mistakes

apart from him he's picked technically excellent players who can keep the ball in tight spots - perfick for 5 a side i guess

Which is why I'm surprised Roberto Green is the first to mention Kuyt.

I'd go with Reina, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard and Kuyt. All able to play on the ball, win it back, score, (pick a) pass and contribute all-round. I don't know why so many have gone with Mascherano, I'd be tempted to play Benayoun but reckon those five would be better although you could put Yossi in and maybe Torres perhaps
