In his spanish accent it was classic.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Congratulations are certainly due to the players and Rafa, but I'm not sure about the fans.  For long periods tonght it sounded (if that's the right word) as tho' the team did "walk alone". The players need encouragement when things aren't going well and they didn't get it until Pongolle scored.  Five minutes after that it went quiet again until Mellor's goal.
I'm afraid that our crowd (which used to be the best in the country, bar none) is mid-table, if that.
Supporters at Anfield used to lift the team; nowadays the team has to lift the supporters.  That partly explains why it is no longer "Fortress Anfield".  I intend no offence to those supporters who do offer encouragement throughout the game but they are in the minority.
Well done to Rafa also for believing in Harry Kewell - it looks like his faith could be rewarded.

To do what he's done with the players at his disposal is nothing short of astounding. An unbelieveable achievement, in my view right up there with anything he has ever achieved as a manager. I know thats a big statement but I mean it.

Love to see Benitez and Deschamps go head-to-head
These two are the best Europe has to offer. Imagine what they could do with a team FULL of world class players at their peak!

I wasn't fortunate enough to be there last night , but sitting glued to my telly at home I also noticed how quiet at times the crowd had become , at one point I could even hear the 3000 greek supporters singing.
It's true that there are times when the crowd seem to be waiting for the team to get them going rather than the other way around..

Liverpool.no, quotes Rafa on a statement after yesterdays match; "Benitez has won both La Liga and the UEFA-Cup with Valencia, but yestardays win over Olympiakos tops most of his acchievements as a manager". "This is one of the proudest moments in my career. The players worked hard all the time, and you can see how much this means for the fans. It was a great night".

Once again: I`m just so happy to see this man reign at Anfield!
