I disagree .
This could have provided Manu with the little extra motivation against Chelsea and who says all the talk about it in the media didn't distract Rafa's team even slightly against Stoke .

Ferguson has more experience on "mind games" and Rafa was ill-advised to start this "fight".

Can't imagine the players gave friday's press conference a second thought, in fact , probably never gave it a first thought, once they kicked off. I would go as far to say most of the players probably couldn't recite any of the comments rafa made come breakfast saturday morning.

Rafa´s attack on Fergie is very significant, since Maureen lifted his skirt and ran no one has rippled the water in any way.

Suddenly we´re top of the league and Rafa´s kicking off.

Psychologically (?) Wenger and Arsenal are in subdued silence and Big Phil and Chelsea have their own problems. Its Rafa´s way of throwing down the challenge. LFC are back and Fergie´s and Man Ure´s easy life are over.

Well done Rafa.

Fergie will in private be seething over Rafa's comments ,what is almost a certainty is when the mask he wears for the media slips, he will be furious that Benitez is slowly plotting his downfall .

Benitez knows that like any great general, you may have to forfeit a battle to win a war.

I suppose a simpler description of the ensuing battle would be Monty Pythons fish slapping dance, well Rafa has just produced slap one ,the big fish is yet to come. :D

I don't think so - we believe what we want to believe.

The media in general seem to have taken the "Rafa's outburst" stance, stating that Ferguson will have a wry smile.

I tend to agree with the Ferguson summary.

Well I don't ,I  never will concur with the british media ,Rafa's press conference was thrown so out of context ,quite simply it was given a complete makeover .
I couldn't give a f**k about the press and the spin they put on things ,Us Scousers have a siege mentality and its a circle that filters the s*ite before it enters .

Goggles, Im a scouser too; but I think Rafa would have looked better if he'd said something that
made the media think he'd got the better of Ferguson.

Last word on the subject ,Rafa's playing a game of chess and he's just sacrificed one of his pieces ,Fergies move next and I have a sneaky feeling Rafa's a more shrewder player than we give him credit for .

As for on the field Liverpool have been average this season, but we are sitting at the top of the league without our players hitting top form albeit Alonso, Carragher, Gerrard ,there are so many players waiting to click into top gear ,Torres ,Macherano,Babel, even in many respects Keane .

Im not having a pop at your opinion fella ,Im just stating a fact the media will never be relevant in the opinions I form because they simply don't matter they never have .
I just think Rafa was speaking for the regular supporter ,and the people who watch Match of the Day and are increasingly bemused by the sight of Rooney n Co throwing elbows, and swinging on opponents necks without meriting a response from the so called pundits or indeed recieving no punishment from browbeaten officials .

Reg wrote:Sir Alex Ferguson is furious that the man who presided over Patrice Evra's disciplinary hearing is an Arsenal season-ticket holder

Sir Alex Ferguson is on another collision course with the Football Association after being infuriated by the discovery that an Arsenal season ticket-holder was chairman of the disciplinary commission that suspended Patrice Evra for four matches last month.

The Manchester United manager has struggled to contain his anger at the FA’s handling of the Evra affair, which related to a fracas involving a Chelsea groundsman during a post-match warm-down at Stamford Bridge last April, but his outrage grew when he discovered that Nicholas Stewart, QC, who chaired the four-man commission, has a season ticket at the Emirates Stadium.

While the integrity of Stewart, a specialist in sports law, is not in question, the decision to appoint an Arsenal fan to oversee the case has been seized upon by Ferguson as yet more evidence of a perceived anti- United conspiracy within the FA.

It emerged last night that Ferguson was so incensed by the discovery that he made reference to it in his column in the match programme for United’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday, only to remove his complaint on the recommendation of David Gill, the club’s chief executive.

United were highly critical of the FA’s handling of the case, both in terms of the severity of the defender’s punishment — Evra was also fined £15,000 — and the lack of action against the Chelsea employee, though they decided not to appeal. The club’s unhappiness grew when the FA published the full details of the commission’s report, including criticism of the testimonies of Mike Phelan, the assistant manager, and Richard Hartis, a goalkeeping coach. Lord Triesman, the FA’s independent chairman, felt compelled to apologise to Gill when they met on December 23.

Triesman tried to dismiss Ferguson’s concerns about an alleged anti-United bias at the FA, but it seems that the Scot is unconvinced. While Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, has infuriated Ferguson with a series of complaints about United in recent days, Ferguson appears determined to intensify his crusade against the game’s establishment.

Neither United nor the FA would comment last night, while Stewart could not be contacted. Stewart, who was called to the bar in 1971 and has been a QC since 1987, is described on the website of Ely Place, his chambers, as “a safe pair of hands” and is also an appeal board chairman and a specialist member of the FA’s judicial panel.

I was thinking about this overnight, Fergie really has overstepped the mark and it is exactly what Rafa is talking about.

Fergie questions the appointment of a Queens Council senior law court barrister? Who the héll is fergie compared to this guy?
The QC when offered the appointment would have considered his position and if though necessary declared a conflict of interest. As he didnt, we assume that this learned man is sufficiently intelligent not to let his Arsenal  following affect his decision - as you would expect fo a QC.

So Fergie has implied the FA were incorrect to appoint a senior QC barrister (ie the FA dont know their job) and he calls into question the motives of a QC.

Now then - the door is wide open for the FA to take this scottish gít to task on both counts and ban him from teh touchline for 10 games and fine the club 100,000 quid for bringing the game into dispute.

When you think about it, its an outrageous comment!

Will the FA act...............................   Rafa, get your notebook out son.
