He had all the facts and he read them out calmly, while injecting a bit of his own unique savvy and humor into the whole statement, as well as a sprinkle of sarcasm dished out at the press. This was NOT Kevin Keegan blowing a fuse style regardless of what the thick Mancs think. It's very clever of Rafa to do this ahead of a massive game between the two closest challengers. If Fergie and his staff go mental at officials during, or after the game, it will only make Rafa look like an absolute genius and put to shame the so called master of mind games himself. In fact, this will stand for the rest of the season. It's something that should have been said years ago, but no body had the stones to do. For me, this is easily up there as a milestone event compared to any there has been in the Premiership. It shows that the man is not intimidated by United or their deified manager. Rafa, you're a f*ckin legend!

Hold on.

lets get on thing right here.

Rafa is not a legend.
if he wins the Premier League 2 or 3 times then he can be called a legend.

The word is used too much.

Hold on - he won us number 5.

That's legend material in it's own right.

Rafa's a legend

Rafa 4/5 years in charge:
1 Champions League
1 FA Cup
That is not a Legend in comparison to those going before him, although I do believe he will develop into one and will win the club further major honours.
The phrase Legend is used far to often.

Is Rafa a legend? I don´t Know, but if he wins the Premier League, he will be remembered as the man that brought back the Champions league 20 years later and the title 19 years later.

The man who restored the pride and honour to the Liverpool supporters.

But it´s too soon to talk about the title...

If Rafa wins us number 19 then I would gladly call him Legend.
And in my opinion although I think he is capable of achieving this.

All the Mancs think Rafa's lost it; Liverpool fans reckon it's a "masterstroke".

I think it's neither - he could have played it better IMHO.
I think it would have been better to just talk about referees at Old Trafford, and talk
about the referee's performance on Sunday, hoping he wont be intimidated.

If we win today and Man U dont win Sunday, Rafa will have got away with it.

But if we dont win, it wont look so good.

Pressure on the lad today.

Getting back to the SSN routine Friday interview and putting aside the "Is he or isn't he a Legend" I think Effes comments are right on the money as far as this episode is concerned.

We all know Fergie likes to shoot his mouth off and it usually happens when he is feeling the pressure. The fact that he has seen fit to harp on about the fixtures, pass comment on Liverpool's title credentials and transfer dealings is testament to teh fact he sees us a threat.

I think Benitez was naive to react in the way that he did gripping his piece of paper and whichever way you look at it it smacks of a reaction to me.Some have said he was calm and calculated but from where I was sitting he was bristling and bubbling and IMO has played right into purple noses hands.

We all know Fergie likes to play his little games, it's just a pity no-one saw fir to inform Rafa  ???

I think Rafa is a very astute fella and knows the score with such shenanigans. Remember, people thought Rafa spat the dummy regarding his "I'm just the coach" remarks with the H&G saga a while ago, when in reality he brought to attention what the two snakes were up to without actually spelling it out.

The phrase Legend is used far to often.

Is it not?

Legend;

   1. An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially    one popularly believed to be historical.
   2. A body or collection of such stories.
   3. A romanticized or popularized myth of modern times.

People comparing Rafa to Fagan, Paisley, Dalglish, Shanks etc etc. Completely out of context. They are legends of the club of over 20 years ago and more. Today is modern times, as a definition states. Of all the great managers we had, only two previous to Rafa ever won the grand prize in Europe, built on the  foundations of Shankly's house. That house was long torn down before Rafa got here. I'd say the final in Istanbul, and the game at Anfield against Chelsea is the stuff of lore, and stuff worthy of any tale regarding LFC through the ages, and at the helm of that team was a one Mr Benitez. So yeah, he is a legend.

Heard that Graham Poll's come out in support of his comments stating Rafa's only "articulating what refs have been thinking for years". Also the FA are going to investigate the interview fully and then decide what they will do.

Probably charge Rafa with bringing the game into disrepute. You can question a referee...... but you mustn't question Mr Ferguson!
