I must clarify I the way in which the post is worded suggests I believe Agger and Arbeloa are cack. Arbeloa is good at what he does but I believe we can get better. We bought him for £1.5m and if we get offered the £7m we were linked with I would take that

As far as Agger goes, personally I want to keep him but reckon he will go, in no way to I believe he is cack.

I don't believe that the only money available will be from selling tho

There are plenty of poor quality players in are squad that can be moved on to raise some cash, how much we will get for them is debatable. If it was up to me i would be looking for suitors for Lucas, Babel, Degen, Voronin, Dossena, N'gog, Skretl (never gonna happen though), Pennant, Plessis, Itjande and some of the dead wood in the reserves that have been here for years like Leto, Antwi and co.

he was never great IMO, average player who was never needed. Hyypia, Agger and Carragher are all better players, yet Skretel gets much more playing time than Hyypia and Agger. I think he be sold and replace by a real quality centre back.

i agree with all except Skertel. he has so much time on his side and he is the best prospect among all others mentioned.

What we need is:

Someone to play when Torres doesn't, who doesn't require a total system change.

Torres is at his best in front of Gerrard. We need a clever striker who knows where the goal is and doesn't need a 20 yard head-start over defenders in a 30 yard race (basically Torres Mark II) to fit in as and when the main man isn't available.

Villa, as good as he is and as daft as it sounds, is too high-profile, and would demand a starting place every game. No great issue, but all of a sudden you then go back to 4-4-2, which we seem to struggle with. I would consider going 3-5-2 in that case, but we would be asking for trouble IMO.

We need someone up and coming or getting on a bit. Michael Owen, if he wasn't such a crock and a c*nt, would be the obvious choice.

We desperately need a new rightback to cover when Arbeloa isn't available. Shifting JC across does nothing for anyone, and if the kids aren't good enough to make the jump, we need to dip our hands in the purse.

I would like a tricky, goalscoring speed-demon to occupy either wing (and alternate accordingly). Silva seems the most glaring fit, but a move has been ruled out.

I have banged this drum for years, but we need an Aimar-type player to nick the keys from the defender's pocket, unlock the door and drive the team bus away from the goal. If we have had a consistent problem, it's that e struggle against the sh*t. Much as it pains me to say it, Tevez would make a big difference, and if we can pinch him from under Fergie's nose, it would be something of a coup.
