Owen and Cisse both out of contract!?!

We could do worse for little expenditure, for proven EPL players with pace (Cisse) and good goal records.

Neither could expect to play every game, and both could deputise for Torres/Gerrard when required.

I know I will be flamed, but for the relative spend, they would be good signings IMO.

Cos he'd be on a free, has EPL experience, pace, strength and wouldn't expect a start every game.

He's as good as, if not better than, our other back up striker options,  (Ngog, Babel) plus he has years of experience.

He'd also jump at the chance of joining a big club again, after losing his way the last few years.

I remember reading in 'A Season on the Brink' that according to Rafa, Cisse lacked basic footballing knowledge on some things and he was quite shocked. Im not an expert on football in a technical sense but I seriously doubt Rafa would even entertain bringing him back. He would probably sooner buy Robbie Keane back from Spurs.

Djibril Cisse   he ended up at Sunderland for a reason as far as I'm concerned. I have no fond memories of him at all. Rafa wouldn't sign him anyway, they didnt get along did they?

the reason he's lost his way is because he is not good enough. There is no way Rafa would bring him back, he's not a team player either and doesn't track back or pass the ball.

If anything, this proves how lucky we were to get 7-8 million for him when we did....he must represent one of Marseille's worst signings if they are not even prepared to give him a new contract.

Are you sure he's on a free at the end of the season??            ??  could it not be his LOAN contract is expiring???
