Rafa needs to sell

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think the Tevez "interest" is a mini smokescreen and I can't see Benitez dropping Gerrard to the bench to accomodate him in the only position he could possibly play in.

Better option is David Silva..plays right - left - central and has performed with half our team :;):

Defender Raul Albiol and a cut price Gareth Barry

Id be fuming if we sold Agger , Nearest thing to Hanson weve had . i know he got a long way to go before he reaches the same level . But from what ive seen he can only get better.

An for me id take Silva over Tevez ,

Hint hint here keep your eye out for Javier Saviola that all im saying :;):

I agree .....I think he's our best defender, but I think his refusal to sign a contract has probably sealed his departure.

Rafa wasnt able to sort out Bellamy or Pennant so id question if he could turn Saviloa around. But Saviloa has more talent than both those players so I wouldn't mind him. How old is he now?

We need a tall, and powerful striker to use against the negative teams.  Saviola is the complete opposite of those things, the guy would be very ineffective in our league.

I like the names you mention, but we'd need a lot of luck, what if Torres is injured? Who will we play when he's too tired after playing every game?

Are Ngog, Babel or Kuyt the answers?

His game is detriment to the liverpool attacking game, and that was our problem one season again, the fluidity in our game against deep defences of small clubs, especially at Anfield. Too many draws per season (10 +)

I Know he´s not a creative midfielder and that´s not his mission... BUT, after seeing players like Diarra (Madrid), Toure (Barcelona), Carrick, Anderson, Essien and others, I think every holding midfielders of any big club should have a minimum of quality passing and distributing the ball.

The problem is that the quality cant be training, you have or haven´t quality.... and unfortunately Mascherano have no quality when we are talking about creative and attacking game.

Please tell me you are being integrated into this Forum ,as a sort of Jester  :D

at least I have football arguments.

Not against the jester suggestion....you and a few others are vying for the position..

Even bigmick is making a late effort for the position looking at recent posts in the Kuyt thread

Another gem I see Sub, just found this one :no.

Let me guess, frustrated about my moaning on the "what kind of losers are we thread" you've made it one of your missions to provoke me into a an unholy row so you can boot me off into the long grass. Perhaps we don't even need a row and I'll get booted off anyways. Ah well.

All I ask of you though is that if you disagree from a football perspective, argue from a football perspective. Don't talk about how many miles away people offer an opinion from, or imply that as their opinion is formed from watching a "gogglebox" it is without foundation. That's all I ask. From your privilaged position of watching many matches from 20 yards away, I look forward to some revealing insight. You might want to start with how you think Martin Skyrtel is a front runner for player of the season. In this sense you are right that you don't get the full picture on TV, because anybody with any sort of clue about football whatsoever wouldn't have said that based on the "gogglebox" evidence.

Anyway back to the thread, it's just like old times that I agree absolutely 100% with what sabre has posten on here. Selling masherano would be hugely detrimental IMHO to our progress.

People who say he isn't playing anywhere near as well as he has previously should also give some thought to the idea that as we are currently much more dominant than we ever have been under Rafa, by definition the role of the holding midfielder becomes less spectacular. It's a bit like saying the goalkeeper hasn't made any great saves when you've won 5-0.

No, for me he is a great player, and you don't sell them if you can help it. Also, if we did sell him who is going to play there? We going to buy someone new and give him six months to "bed in" when we really don't need to? Not for me.

How many of you guys want Barry?

IMO if we get Barry then Lucas will almost certainly leave. Surely he will seek more opportunity in the lead up to the world cup. It is concievable that we sell Lucas for more than the price of Barry though as Barry will be able to buy his contract out for 2m in summer. In practice big clubs have said they will not buy players that do that but I think that will keep his price reasonable.

If we do sell Lucas IMO we need to get an expensive midfielder under 20 with world class expectations. We need to secure our future as well and in that regard selling Lucas for Barry is a big step backwards.

Regarding Babel, I don't care if Wenger is able to get 20m for him. He will never be successful here IMO so we need to sell him. I like Tevez as his replacement because A. He's world class and B. He's versatile enough to act as cover for Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt while I think he would play ahead of Riera C. He works hard which will make him a favourite for Rafa and D. He'll give us the goals we are not getting from the left side.

If Agger goes I'll be disappointed but I think it should be seen as an opportunity to balance our squad and improve on our defence. I'd like to see us fork out for a big ceter back with a bright future. I'd go for (in order) Mertesacker, Wheater, Turner.
