Rafa benitez - My thoughts

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Lando_Griffin » Wed Dec 17, 2008 6:09 pm

At the end of the day, who here would give 2 poos if Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal lost every remaining game against the other sides, and drew with each other, handing us the title?
Who would sit here saying "We only won it because..." and actually want to hand the trophy back?

Hands up, children...

Dont think anyone is disputing that Lando, what some are concerned of is the likelihood of that actually happening.

Of course nobody would care if we won the league due to the others being worse than previous seasons though.

Listen, just because Stu says get rid now doesn't mean he's on a wind up.
My mate who's been a season ticket holder since he was a kid says Rafa out too.
He has his reasons, and dont we all?

Some people like to get their view in before anyone else irrespective of whether it's premature - just to say
"I told you so" - which is Stu's calling card.

Your way off mate. Stu has an ego problem that won't allow an opinion that is different than his own. That's fact, check the archives.

As for Stu's credentials - he once had a kick around with Dean Ashton. If that isn't enough to prove his worth I don't know what is.

:D haha omg so that proves what ?

That he has kicked a football.

Omg he is expert I bow to the power of a celeb kick about.

Fo Dne does, but he isnt a Liverpool fan so it's to be expected.

You have been a poster on here for years mate so you must know that Stu is a Liverpool supporter.
I dont agree with alot of things what he says but to be fair he has stuck to his guns regarding what he feels.

I actually agree with the part he has said about Rafa being stubborn at times and it costing us, he (stu - fo dne) may come accross badly - well he definately does, but he is a liverpool supporter he does make some very valid points.

yeah he never said a word about that till I mentioned it like 6 months ago.

Absolutely nobody would give a sh!t, similarly if everyone keeps dropping points and we win it with 75 points, it is absolutely irrelevent.

The objective of the league campaign is to gather more points than everybody else. It starts and finished there.

Once we've established that, and the fact that this is not a pop at the manager, I have said before and I say it again, this is a weaker Premiership this season. It's weaker at all levels in my opinion and I'm surprised people don't agree with that.

When you are looking at the league as a whole, there's little point in saying "well Aston Villa are stronger" or "well Blackburn aren't half as good as last season" because obviously the outlook of individual teams fluctuate. To sensibly evaluate it, look at the positions and the teams which occupy them (and can I just say at this point, if you are strapping on the bovver boots at this point, simply don't read the rest).

For starters we are top. Now are we as good a side as Mouinho's back to back winners, Arsenals invincibles or the better Man Utd teams of the past? Are we based on how we've performed this season largely without Torres, as good as those teams? Now I know some will be bristling for a verbal punch up at this point and leaping in to "defend rafa", but in all seriousness we aren't are we? I'll just reierate at this point, it matters not a jot, none of those teams are in it this year, this is purely conversation.

Below us, you've got the likes of Hull in the top six. Now I know you can't argue with their results, their manager has done a fine job etc etc etc etc, but are they a top six team, would they have been top six at this juncture in many previous seasons? I don't think they would have no to be honest.

Just about the only area of the league whch is stronger I think is down the bottom. There are no Swindons this time around, even WBA can play a bit.

Once again though I make the point, if the Arsenal team, Mourinho's Chelsea or the better Man Utd teams were in it this time around, it'd be all over bar the shouting by now.
