He's past it..he's a figurehead or an ambassador for the club externally. Can't see him being a yes-man to those two kuntz....

Maybe, but I still stand by that belief.  And I'm not talking long term, just one year, heck even just half a year.  We need someone in who can steady the ship, and calm the fears of the players.

I wish him all the best.  Never his biggest fan and he had to go but hope he finds success elsewhere.

we need someone who could unite the players and organise the side on the field. Someone who could motivate them and possible deliver. Just can't seem to think who could that one be.

Fook it, they should get rid of Sammy Lee at the same time. Bring back Hyypia in some shape or form for a start...dunno about the manger - am still thinking about that one...

That I agree with.  Sammy Lee can go.  All the backroom staff can go.  We need a complete fresh approach.

RedorDead wrote:My first post in nearly two years, I still check in every now and then though....anyway what has caused me to put pen to paper...erm finger to key? Whatever....of course the reason I'm posting is Rafa's departure.
I don't profress to know the ins and outs like some on here, I am just a life long fan who is now sh!t scared that the club I love is about to enter it's darkest ever period.
I think Rafa is a great manager but he clearly lost the players through the course of last season. He seemed to lose some of his own confidence and one or two shocking decisions cost us dear. The club is better now then when he took over and we have a very talented squad missing 2-3 key players and with that in mind last season's 7th place was frankly unforgiveable. I guess what I'm getting at is despite his obvious talent and genuine affection for the supporters and the club I'm not sorry to see him go.
Having said that my worry and fear is nothing to do with Rafa's departure, that has just brought it to a head, my fear comes from the fact that our two American owners are still here and making big decisions like this today. They have behaved dispicably since they took over. The new stadium has gone from keys in the ignition of the bulldozers to a distant dream, they have leaked stories time after time and humiliated Rafa on more than one occasion. He acted with dignity, something the Yanks have no idea about.
My fear now is that they don't sell the club for the ridiculous fee that they are asking and decide on a cheap option of a manager who will be given a paltry transfer kitty. On seeing this Gerrard will head to Real Madrid and Torres will follow him out with the £70 million we make from them going straight to the banks to pay off our loans.....7th will soon be 17th if something isn't done.
My only hope is that this summer we get a buyer....why is noone coming in? Why aren't DIC back? Is the most successful, presitigious club in English history not an attractive commodity? I hope someone comes in and appoints a top manager quickly, a Hiddink or O'Neil and we then keep our best players and start to build a squad that can challenge at the top again. It's been too long since we won the league.
I remember when United won the first of their many titles under Ferguson, the fans had been waiting 26 years for a title....I used to laugh at that....we're looking odds on to have a longer barren spell than that now and it guts me. I just hope this gets sorted soon.

Maybe you shouldn't leave it two years mate because that's a good post. Spot on in a lot of areas, for footballing reasons a new manager seems like the right way to go but fook knows what these two cu....n....t...s are gonna do now they have free reign to sell whoever they want once the bids start coming in. I'll guarantee City have already been in with another bid for Torres, guarantee it  :(

It's gonna be a horrible summer :(

Was actually myself that had this opinion - that is until nearing the end of the season and in the game against Atletico when I looked at the bench and saw our options. We're 3-5 players short. Anyone who's thinking we're gonna be back up there next season scrapping for the league is fooling themselves. We're in a dogfight for 5/6th again this season, and 4th if we're really lucky. There's also the lovely posibillity that Mascherano, Torres, Gerrard or one or two fringe players could leave. We thought Souness was the dark days? Brace yourselves.

Torres and Gerrard will leave regardless of Rafa if the club does nothing this summer.

Heared Jamie Rednapp on sky when I got in from work.
He basically said that SG and Torres said it was them or Rafa.
I think that was the the last straw for the board myself

Don't tell me your take the word of a Sky Sports brown nose like Jamie as gospel. There is absolutely no f*cking proof whatsoever that Gerrard and Torres had anything to do with Rafa's sacking, and if they did, then they should be sold as soon as. Let's wait and see when it all comes out.

only time will tell.

i am going to post this, i have been thnking about it since i sawON on tv today after the game.

I think Rafa will now be here next year, dont get me wrong i dont think he should be.

Jose Mourinhos price is too high, we can not give him the spending money he is looking for.

talks with Rafa and Juventus fell apart as they would not give him the power he has at Liverpool.

the amount of debt come out in the pres on friday

MON todays says that he will be happy to be at his club next year.

.............................I think the truth is that DUE TO OUR DEBT  the owners can not find a big named manager to take the job if Rafa left.

Rafa all of a sudden thought me might have burnt his bridges with Liverpool over what his agent has said.....he run back to the club and started having meetings trying to keep his job and to play down the link with other clubs.
(what the bets that as soon as i post this liverpool sack him lol)

Jamie redknapp talks sh!te , just like his father . Gerrard and Torres will be off make no mistake . Not because of Rafa , but because of lack of investment . Get used to it .

IF that is true....and it's a big IF....then I would expect Gerrard and Torres to stay. If that is indeed the case then there is hope of us securing 4th place next season, I am just fearful that without new owners and new investment that Torres and Gerrard will leave anyway and if they do 7th will be about as high as we can hope for.

I get a funny feeling, we will see the wheels on the sale of the club turning, after Rafa leaving, could be part of the new regime of what the new buyers want.

Here's what I do know as fact. No here'say bullsh*t. Gerrard, Torres and Rafa were in complete total agreement that investment was badly needed in the squad. New and better players were required. Seems odd that the rumours go against that fact to the contrary. Doesn't add up.
