And you seriously believe that ?

Why would he of cut such a low deal? Don't tell me for the club.

Also why would he avoid dismissing selected rumouring to the press. He ruled out a move to coach Saudi Arabia yet would not explicitly rule out either Juventus or Inter.

Loosely translated, the owners/board didn't want Rafa so he decided it was time to leave. I mean who with ANY self respect would stay, unless they wanted more money?!!?!

Maybe Rafa will learn from this, he has made mistakes and doesn't seem to learn from them. I had hoped after the end of season run in 08/09 that he'd realise goals win games win titles, but instead he plays two DMs and doesn't buy cover for Torres. Tactically he makes too many mistakes, our bad season is not down to £££££ (or lack of it), any club could do a lot better with unlimited funds, but he certainly shouldn't have lost 1 in 3 games and finished that low. Fifth would have been ok, sixth at a push, but we didn't even do that. And as pointed out before, we didn't win games we should have, another failing of his as put statistically previously re results against the relegated sides

Adios Rafa, thankyou for Istanbul but your time is now up
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

What absolutely disgusts me - and f*ck anyone who disagrees with this - is the way those dirty snake b"stards handled this. They waited until the man was a thousand or so miles away. They waited in the knowledge knowing the man wanted to continue on in his job for us util he was comfortable taking his mind off things with his family, only to plot the man's sacking behind closed doors like the imposters, the rats, they are at this football club. They didn't even give him the respect to negotiate face-to-face. This is the day the Liverpool way officially died and I won't forget it or forgive either. How anyone can be comfortable in the knowledge and breath their sighs of relief over the sacking of Benitez when we have three of the biggest anti-Liverpool scumbags running the show is beyond me. Those that are, hang your heads in shame.

To keep his options open. I reckon his preferrence was to stay but without the confidence/backing of the board there was only going to be one outcome.

:D I got to wait 30 seconds because of flood control. And try to minimize the thank you buy typing all the thank you in one post please.  :p Unless you want to build up your reply count.  :alien:

THANK YOU RAFA BENITEZ !

take it easy man!

Anyhow we had some good memories with rafa.. Thanks for the champs league and making us one of europes feared teams bar last season.

Actually, I was trying to be sarcastic and didn't really mean to tell him to stop. But I guess I failed in that regard haha. But it would look awesome with a single post that can occupy a whole page just with "Thank You Rafa" in it. So, Zarababe, you might want to try that. Cheers mate.

only time will tell.

i am going to post this, i have been thnking about it since i sawON on tv today after the game.

I think Rafa will now be here next year, dont get me wrong i dont think he should be.

Jose Mourinhos price is too high, we can not give him the spending money he is looking for.

talks with Rafa and Juventus fell apart as they would not give him the power he has at Liverpool.

the amount of debt come out in the pres on friday

MON todays says that he will be happy to be at his club next year.

.............................I think the truth is that DUE TO OUR DEBT  the owners can not find a big named manager to take the job if Rafa left.

Rafa all of a sudden thought me might have burnt his bridges with Liverpool over what his agent has said.....he run back to the club and started having meetings trying to keep his job and to play down the link with other clubs.
(what the bets that as soon as i post this liverpool sack him lol)

You say just about everything, Lakes, that's why you're never wrong but never right either.

yer it was based on  my own views that day....more to the point i have been you that he was not going to be here mnext year since xmas.

on that day stuff had come out about RBS and jobs being taken that made me fear he was srtill going to be hear.

Thanks Rafa for your services, I think you did a good job but not an exceptional one. We won't forget Istanbul and we won't forget Cardiff.

You will never walk alone.

While I think it was time for a change and that the announcement today was inevitable sooner or later I agree with other posts on here about how the statement was released and how it has been handled. Surely if the club was not able to meet Benitez's ambitions with transfers then why have the club waited until now to make the decision? Were they worried about future buyers being scared off if it had been announced after the Hull game? Perhaps they wondered that Torres and Gerrard's values would drop before the world cup if Benitez left too early in the summer. Or perhaps having those players and the others in this country rather than with their national squads while Benitez was here would be an unwelcome distraction for the club. The whole affair has been a shambles from start to finish. Also what the f*** does Broughton as a Chelski season ticket holder know about Istanbul and Anfield folklore?

I thank Rafa for his successes during his time at the club and for coming so close to the title two seasons ago. I wish Rafa all the best for the future and hope that the successor can build on the foundations he has left.

You are right.

They should have sat down face to face, thanked him for his effort, explained their reasoning and then dismiss him and leave the lawyers/accountants sort out the numbers.

We don't know how the next manager will do, however this club was sliding (not all the managers fault) and their is little to suggest Benitez could turn it around so it is time for somebody else to have a go.
