Yes he is injured, but it's nothing serious according to Liverpool Echo. He picked up the knee injury against Bolton, whether he plays on Saturday or not I don't know.

He's definitely got a knee injury as A.B said, maybe it's a bit more serious than expected and he's off home for some treatment!!!

It's a common practise for foreign player's to return home for treatment's, and to be honest, I can't think of any other reason why he'd be off to Barcelona except for a death in his family. ???

Says Morientes is fit, no mention of Luis still being injured though.

Morientes ready to return

Fernando Morientes is expected to be back in the Liverpool squad for the Premiership visit of Tottenham after recovering from a knee injury which has kept him out of the last three matches.

Boss Rafael Benitez now only has winger Bolo Zenden as a long-term injury problem as the Dutchman recovers from knee surgery.

Goalkeeper Jose Reina, rested for the FA Cup win at Luton, is expected to return in place of Scott Carson, Jan Kromkamp should figure in a home squad for the first time but new-boy Daniel Agger is not expected to feature as he is lacking match fitness.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Hyypia, Carragher, Riise, Warnock, Traore, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Hamann, Alonso, Sissoko, Kewell, Cisse, Morientes, Sinama Pongolle, Crouch, Kromkamp, Agger, Carson.

i was on the plane from speke to barcelona this afternoon but there was no sign of luis garcia on it - unless someone put him on in their hand luggage... or unless he doesn't fly easyjet.

Your brother was right SS, Garcia flew to Spain on friday he went to get a second opinion on an injury to his knee, saturday he had tests and today he will have further tests.
He may need an op on his knee as he has been playing through the pain barrier for 2 months.
The op will result in him being out of action for 5 weeks, but he wants to play against Benfica, he is just waiting to see if the problem will heal itself or whether the op will be the better option.
